Last week Elombah.com last week invited Nigerians from all over the country to respond to President Goodluck Jonathan invitation last Wednesday asking Nigerians to give “honest feedback” on claims by the Ministry of Power that the nation’s energy situation had improved significantly.
Last week, the Minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji, had told Nigerians that generation rose to 4237MW at 9p.m on August 6.But, in a move to get a direct feel of the impact of the improved supply on the people, Jonathan through his media team on Wednesday asked Nigerians to choose from three options in a survey.
In a post on Twitter by his Special Assistant on New Media, Mr. Reno Omokri, wrote, “Has the power situation in your area A. Improved B.Remained the same or C. Deteriorated. Please give honest feedback.”
To our question; NOW WHAT DO YOU THINK? I am told power supply has improved significantly, is that true? More than 200 Nigerians responded, with majority agreeing that the current unimaginable power supply improvement in the country is very impressive.
Below are samples of the responses Elombah.com received:
Wajw William Babajide-Ayodile: A. Improved
Ebun Gilbert: C DETERIORATED
Martins Chimdia Obioha A. Improved
Gideon Oladunjoye: B remain the same
Chiemezie Clifford: A IMPROVED.
Uchenna Nwankpa: Its all lie lie lies and lies....
Samuel Olakunle Araoye: PHCN'S RECENT INCESSANT LABOR-STRIKE ACTIONS WON'T ALLOW FOR REAL ACCESSMENT OF POWER-STABILITY... BUT THEIR RECENT LOAD-SHEDDING IS JUST TOO MUCH... EVEN TWO OR THREE NIGHTS CONSECUTIVELY...
Peter Peton Ibezim: It has really improved .
Johnramesh Godfrey: A. What of the free pre paid meters. The tariff is high for ordinary Nigerians
Stephen Dawam Dantala: Mr. President, as much as I appreciate your effort to boost power supply in our dear country, i will like to say that the country is well above the figures that are presented by the minister; that is to say that we can do better than that, and beware of saboteurs in your administration.
Blessing Ekeada: Improved
Hardehorlah Dupsie: Same
Adam Mustapha: C Deterioted
John Abadom: improved
Jimoh Tajudeen Tunde: Yes, my 25 litres of petrol for one week is now two weeks for the generating set.
Adeyinka Adegbola: In my own area about 5 communities are in perpetual darkness 4 more than a wk now as if we are part of Ogun state. The areas are Rafco,Itoki,Abule,Ogba ayo all in Ifo Local govt of ogun state.
Juliet Ulanmo: Depends on d area one is staying. 4 some its improved, others are worse off.
Kennedy Egharevba: De Class In the 21st century, Jonathan and Barth are talking of electricity improvement. "What a shame" mr president and and mr Barth, what is the power generation in Ghana; u.s.a; Britain; Canada; Japan; south africa, etc? You guys should examine your brains and give the accurate evaluation of your metal state! Please, break the NEPAL or power holdings into segments so that every state can generate it's own electricity QED!
Fadimine Akinwale: improved in my area
Odejimi Hakeem Lanre: I'm on Generator past 5hours. Can they just keep quite and do the needy ?
James Olowu Enemari: Gaskiya tsakani da Allah, power has fairly improved in my area of wusasa, zaria. Tanx to GEJ and Barth Nnaji
Kashim Shettima: It is true Mr. President. But by less than 1%.
Abdulrasheed Zakari: Improved.
Lawal Toyin: Improved but tarif is high 4 ordinary nigerian not everbody is a politician rather has access 2 money like N\Asembly
Michael Nwabueze: As far as I see, power supply remains same thing. The minister should omplete the task set before him. We don't want hear that there is improvement. What Nigerians want to hear is that PHCN is now in a position to supply power 24/7/366. Improvement can be okay if when I go to hometown, I hear they now have light at least once a week...Mchewwww
Joel Idakwo: Deteriorated
Christy Pam: Ive not seen light 4 d past 5 months
Akinyemi Chris: No improvement in many parts of Ogun state.
Ola Fatai Adeosun: It has really improved... And 4 those saying d president shuld not celebrate d improved power supply,it means they neither understand d terrible state of power in our country b4 now,nor understands d importance of improved power supply on our economy, or probably they just want to criticise 4 d sake of criticism
Saliu Kafayat Aramide: In my Area,I can say 45% improvement.
Halid Adesola Bakare: C. Deteriorated
Christopher Udoka: Worst.
Amaju Brownridge: they still ration our light 2 days on n one day off. the 2days on we dnt get to see d light till night, and the one day off, we dnt even see a blink of the light. so i wud say no improvement at all
Kalouma Shehu Umar: Yes the power had improved but the credit will never goes to GEJ administration but will only goes to the heavy down fall of rain fall in the country.
Gadafi Iyke: 2wks ago i would say it has improve but now we are back to square one is it that good things dont remain permanet wht a shame.
Sikiru Adebayo: Improve but tariff too high 4 ordinary Nigerian. Infact fixed charges of N500 per month is abnormal and must be abolish.
Amos Author Iji: 20/100 is not a gud performance so, getting better.
Sikiru Adebayo Improved but tariff too high 4 ordinary Nigerian. Infact fixed charges of N500 per month is abnormal and must be abolish.
Tacio Lawrence Iliya: There's improvement to be candid.but nt evry where had felt d impact.
Fidelson Ajemrena: It has realy improve now that a lot of us have bought our own generator. Mr President with all due respect if you realy want to have a feel of what nigerians pass through leave Aso rock and come down to One of the local government area in your state. Stay there for a week.

Aisha Muhammed Bature: Deteriorated
David Akuma: Its fun. †ĦƸ house Ȋ̝̊̅ڪ jst ok.com
Adetola Olutayo: No transformer to experience stable supply o, and no light since ystday and so the answer is NO
Chinedu Ihezie: (A) improved
Unukevwere Cyril: It has improved
Ben Afam: Has really improved. Kudos to president and his team, but there is still room for improvement.

Sa'ad Lalo: Ever since the ramadan started, jos and environs have experianced constant power supply, but now that ramadan is about to end,the revarse is the case.
Hope Ogbu: it has improved.
Adekoya Abayomi: This is the only thing they will ask when they know it has improved a bit. Did Jonathan ever asked how many Nigerians are suffering @ the moment and also seek a solution to the problem of the masses, so the only thing he can ask is about the so call Electricity where people still live in darkness..Mschwww
Oladipo Sunday: Pls I want to believe that we respect the word of God and that the question above is not intended to raise dust but genuine. On this premise, I submit that the entire songs of solomon is about Christ and the church and this relationship is explained in the context of marriage. The church can get wisdom from it, talking about u and I. Again the couple or couple to be can understand the depth of the phenomenon called love through this book. Zeroing down to the chapter 8, vs 1 shares the yerning of a woman for the depth of closeness between her and her love which can only be compared by the relationship that exist between siblings in an ideal situation. Vs 2, we can learn that love is a two way thing, a combo of expectation and a readiness to be responsible too. So romance is intimate when couple has broken into the depth of oneness similar to those of siblings united by deep trust. Vs 4 tells of the need to follow due to process before activating love in its totality. Premature love is that which is rampant in our society today expressed by just sex and its fruits outside of wedlock. Vs 5 tells of family oversight function. How concerned are u over the relationship of ur daughter, son sister. Can u be said to be a responsible person too in the sight of God and man? Vs 6 & 7 talks of the demands of Love and the attributes of genuine love. Verse 8 the question! The wall talks about the hymen, protecting the house from unlawful invasion. If intact she gets precious treatment. If a door, hope is not lost we will not give up on her they meant. Verse 9 she says who she is. She also tells us she has come of age and at this time she is favord for her chaste qualiites.
Idris Malami: let the president know that during this time of the year we use to experience significant improvement due to the rain since all the appliances we are using are hydro.
Victor Ohagwu: idris idiagree with u.@adekoya,with d imrovement of light d masses will surely benefit thereby improving d em.
Maryam Usman: It improve only when they went on strike
Emmanuel Ogoh: There's a sense of improvement but then it's not yet 'uhuru'.
For a Corruption-Free Nigeria! Posted by: Dr. David Akin-Samuels:
I have just read the article about the improved electricity situation. I spoke to my Caretaker in Nigeria who equally confirmed the fact that there has been constant electricity for nearly two weeks. I am over the moon and so happy to know that all my writings and accusation of Nigeria as a "Blind Country" is now showing some light. I sincerely hope that who so ever in charge of supply of electricity can keep it up, then other fundamental infrastructures will emerge, there will be less stress and less death, water will improve, roads will improve I mean people can plan ahead. I will keep my eyes and mind open. Who knows, I may just decide to relocate to that Glorious Country called Nigeria. I am impressed but only for now
Chris Da'es Oga Idris: are u a professional in d power sector? I doubt. The problem with our power sector has not been only generatio as your comment seemed to suggest but also transmission and distribution. These have significantly improved accross Nigeria to be fair to d government (I and u inclusive). I think there is nothing wrong in acknowledging improvement and as well criticise specific aspects of failures. Being positive also has a way of making us want to achieve more. God help Nigeria.
Chukwugozie Okoro: Yea, it is
Francesca Adejo Umoru Niaja: ha! The power supply improves better during raining season. Lets wait and see what happens during d dry season. Shine your eyes men...
Salami Idris Abolore: It has improve slightly but sustainability I can't say!!! Wit ur xpensive BB, #1500 internet subscription every month, 2 - 3hrs average daily on net but u still don't make money! Its Wack! Reverse it Now!! visit www.netcontacts.com.ng wit ur xclusive invitationcode{IC} 1243570744 and smile to d bank like neva b4!!!
Razaq Shaquille Sulaimon: The power has improved in the last couple of weeks, but I just hope it'll will not be a just a tip of the iceberg. If it can continue like this, there won't any need for our industrialist to leave the country to seek development in a neighbouring countries.
Olusola Fatoye: I learnt that military has taken over d operation of eletricity supply in dis cont and if its true, then it means that our democracy in nig is having seriouse preblem. Can we now say (pdp)is a party without good political will and lacks policy direction.
Alabi Salihu: Improved
Emmanuel Obasi: power supply has greatly improve in my area. I wish it goes on this way. God bless nigeria.
Iyke Ezeobi: Well, as you want an honest report, nothing has change in most area here in Lagos. But Mr. President i wonder why in this country we do things upside down. How on earth did the PHCN or what ever they are called will increase the tariff before talking about improving the supply. It is only in Nigeria that such will happen. There should be a very big improvement in the power supply before government will even think of any tariff increment. I also still wonder why our government both past and present still talk about this power problem as if it is heaven that are going to solve it upon the huge amount of money that have been spent on it.
Ajewole Steven Power: distribution had drastically improved in some parts of ABEOKUTA metropolis but my area (ASERO) and its environs are completely exempted frm dis glorious improvement, pls come to our aid......May God restore Naija's Glory to its fullness
Austine Onochie: Well, its a slight improvement in my area.
Ehiabhi James Uwe: 2 hell wit his honest feedback. He shuld run Aso vila on 24hrs PHCN for a month+ &dispose d standby gen and come wit his own feedback. He expects a congrats 4 aweek basic amenity given 2us¿ Lazy performance!!!
Amaju Gift: My area cant boost of any improvement.
Tunde Olaide: Honestly, its a great development in power sector so also to president Jonathan administration. In Ib drastically,we experienced d change in power supply.God bless Nigeria!
Daniel Abiola Ikponwansa: There is improvement.
Akinola Olumide: Absolute rubbish...why is mr president asking such a rhetorical question?....he should send honest n dedicated spy all around to confirm at nite in residential area, daytime in bussiness area, national environmental pollution body to carry out survey on element of pollution, its source n its relative quantity. Taken a comparism of a month to 2 interval. Those dat does not av ligth would not b able to coment on fb. Mr president shld also liase with the PHCN account department for their prepaid meter sales record, afterall, d more u use' d more u buy credit
Moses Akanbi Oluwafemi: What a shame of our leaders,I was at Dubai last month for 14 days.know power failure ,this month I was at Cairo Egypt .all the company I visited runs on power supply.for eight days know power failure, when most company have run to bad debit due to lack of power.if Nigeria can have power to produce their goods and service ,Nigeria economy will I proof.
Hon Muhammad Jauro Akko: Na lie mr.president dey talk !
Ohia Solomon: I live in Anthony village in Lagos. We use to have power for average of 18 hours a day before now. But we have power for an average of 23.5 hours a day now. I think the improvement is a culmination of the effort of 0BJ, Yardua and GEJ administration.
Gilbert Tongpak: Honestly,it has improved in my area 2 the maximum,i hope it becomes better than this soonest.
Talatu Ndagi: Only down south ,i know up north it's a different story.Lets not deceive ourselves.
Yahya Saleh: In my area it has drastically deteriorated more than ever before
Onyeka Nwafor: We neva get light 4 d past 1 wk o
Chukwuma Amadi: It has improve in my area- onipanu/ilupeju lagos. i hope it stay that way. goodluck nigeria!
Adekunle Yusuf: No improvement at all
Mustapha A Ali Akko: Mr gej has tried in fertilizer provision, is hereby commended. The same theraphy should be extended to power supply, then nig would be great
Tolu Oloruntade: No improvement in my area Ondo north, we hardly have light 3days in a week pls do something.
Suleiman Muhammad: Infact there is a remarkable improvement in my area(Zambuk) and other towns east of Gombe.ie within the state.
Felyx Aj F..k: the word Improvement, NIGERIA should by now, keeping record of how many years of no power failure in the Country.
Olugesin Bamidele Adeola: Mr president please address the issue of sharing light it has become a norm in phcn this day. One day on two days off hmmmm.
Sulaiman Abubakar Dala: No improvement of power supply in the nation.
Edet Stephen: On a very factual speaking we this days have non interruptable power supply.
Sabastine Zubairu: Wahala still de well well
Namtra Ahmad: honestly speaking , there is improvement , it unlike before . i base in kano and have seen changes . the intruption wasn't much .
Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli: There was a great improvement in my area(New Bodija, Ibadan) until a few days ago when it deteriorated again.
Adebusola Olaitan: Power supply is much more better since 2 weeks ago in ibadan. Am afraid my card will soon finish in d next 2weeks. Thanks to jona and Nnaji.
Odeh Godwin: Nothing has happen in my area IGANDO, ALIMOSHO LOCAL GOVT. AREA LAGOS.
Evelyn Ajero Ugorji: My area is still d same, no improvent ard Iyana Ejigbo LGA in Lagos
Olusade Fatimilehin Oshinowo: Candidly Speaking There's bn some improvement in my area Malefalafia Ajeigbe Ring Road Axis, compared to days, weeks even months of Total Blackout, Low Voltage or Phase off we normally experienced b4. I even thot its because of the upcoming sallah we're having regular electricity supply. I pray this ll continues.
Olanee Joseph: A Rome is NT build in a day if people r saying it has improve it means we r going somewhere aba make try encourage this people, we can ne like American overnight abeg na small small o if obasanjo tenure on each give 5 000 mgwat today we go they talk of 20-25megawat o I beg make we encourage oga jona o
Badmus Afeez Olalekan: There is no improvement of power in ijebu ode ogun state
Augustin Odemwingie Edo-Osagie: To the best of my knowledge nothing has changed.
Hilary Okwarah: A very significant improvement in my area in wuse 2. Continuos power in the last 3 days
Bamidele Ojediran: It has improved in ikeja .I.e seriki aro area but in epe where I work.der as bin no lyte 3 months and countin. In short tru out dis year we av not ad up to 2wks lyte in total. Pls do somtin.
Amaka A Onwordi we don dey get light 4 lagos ooo
Sabastine Onyekpe: the answer is A
Emeka Uwam: It has really improve to be very honest
Nura Kabuga: In my area Gusau capital city of Zamfara State it is still thesame thing I left two ago. Therefore my answer is B. And for the last two month Kano most especially in Bayero University on average it is thesame though a week b4 last week we were given three days uninterrupted power supply. There4 the result is still B.
Okey Calvin M :The PHC now charge 500 per month for service charge, they never service any meter. Nigerians are paying thru there nose
George Nwobodo :all Mr. President needs do is allow Aso Villa to be run on PHCN for 24hrs without generator. Then he can get the answer he's seeking.
Yarry Augusta: Its has improved
Anthony Eneji: In Bwari Abuja where I leave the power situation has improved greatly and also in Kaduna where my family is.
Mychel Bustha Nwakasi: Okey, that is not the answer to the question.
Nwokeji'he Ayodele: All these mallams no go ever gree say light don improve. The truth is it has significantly improved.
Akinseloyin Sam-oke Taiwo: My aunt that lives in Lagos who just came to US told me few days ago that power is now more than stable compared to what I left behind this year January. I want to believe there is an improvement and it can only get better cos all areas of Nigeria can't sing the same song all of a sudden. Lets wait and see how it goes.
Oluwaseyi Akinde: I Live in Lagos Ojojoro Ijaye area i must tell u all i have light 20 hours every day ! the light has improved significantly.....! We must Give this to the Mr President and not play politics of bitterness with this ....
Munonyedi Val: power has improved in my area Abuja
Valerie Igwe :in my area in Lagos power supply has improved.
Fortune Hosea Ghadi: i live in warri and i do have light 24/7
Adamu Zamani : Is Trueoooooooooo
Adamu Zamani : Is Trueoooooooooo in kd.
Danjuma Ahmad Musa : @AY, I am shocked at your castigation of the so-called mallams whom in your opinion will not agree that power has improved.
Well, since you have a mindset about our contributions, I will not bother to share my observation about my area. But however, if GEJ was a serious president, he does not ask for feedback in the press. He need to wake up, he is the Commander-in-Chief in Nigeria. He has all the tools at his disposal to check that out for himself.
It is irritating even as it is an admission of failure on GEJ to assemble a team that can give him an honest feedback on the work of his government!
Olowogboyega Victor Tope : Yes! There is a tremendous increase...GEJ U CAN DO BETTER!
Victor Adamu Truman: I concor.
Danjuma Ahmad Musa : Please advice Mr President to start by operating Aso Rock on PHCN 24/7 and make comparison. Then extend his search for the truth thereafter.

Dalhatu Gambo Doh: I live in Kaduna and the particular area I reside is witnessing tremendous improvement in power supply. We go for as much as 4 days with uninterrupted supply. If the change is being witnessed in other places then Mr President is trying.
Nwokeji'he Ayodele: @Sanjay, go thru dis thread u will see d only people who said power hasn't improved are from d core north who obviously see nothing good in wat GEJ has done. If it was a negative thing, dis thread would av been filled with venoms from them.... Am glad to say we enjoy 22-23 hours of light everyday. Haba
Danjuma Ahmad Musa : @AY the light situation has never been the same across Nigeria from time IMO river! I know for a fact, for instance, that Kano has never had it good since in the mid 1970s. So is Maiduguri in the early 1980's.
So, if I were you, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and cross-check their feedback rather than lump everyone up together and label them. Thank God for Internet this should take minutes.
We must guard against stereotyping and try to take people for their words except if they prove otherwise!
In Kawo where I live, there is no remarkable improvement because improvement in power supply in Kawo will mean 24/7, but we are not there yet. Because of all the districts in Kaduna, Kawo is one place that enjoys the most stable (?) electricity. Even when the whole nation were crying from lack of light, we are lucky that we enjoy a lot of power supply?
But I do not know of the situation in other districts within town!
Abayomi Smith : @Danjuma, you have spoken my mind. Why does the president have to sample opinion via twitter to find out if power generation and distribution has improved? The best way to find out is to remove all generators in Aso rock and in all federal ministries and official residencies and not forgetting the national assembly plus their official residencies. That way he will get the best feedback ever. I don't understand why 4200MW in a country of about 150M people should elicit a pat on the back.
Nwokeji'he Ayodele: @abayomi, u know say na butter u be cos u dey jand... Allow those of us who have seen it all in Naija to comment about d power situation. Epileptic power situation didn't just start from d present regime... Going by d majority comments here which shod hold sway, it means power have significantly improve.... So we should give it to him. Am one of d few who still av faith in GEJ. Am just sad that criticism that aint constructive eminate
Nwokeji'he Ayodele: Emanate from a particular section of the country... This ain't fair
Munonyedi Val: Abayomi and Danjuma seems to only see negatives. If they continue this way, soon they will end up being negatives themselves.
Abayomi Smith : @Munonyedi, it's a pity that when people speak the truth, it's always termed as negativity. What is negative about saying Mr President does not deserve a pat on the back for raising power generation to about 4200 MW from about 2700MW or thereabout in over 2 years? Please help me ask, for how long has this stable power supply been? What exactly is the definition of the word "stable"?how many hours in the day? At what cost is this 4200MW been generated? I guess people have suffered in darkness for too long to care but what irked me is the fact that GEJ has chosen twitter as an avenue to gage people's opinion. Please the people whose means of livelihood is dependent on power, I mean ur welders, barbers, hairdressers etc. are they on twitter? Isn't there a better avenue than twitter to get feedback? I call it scoring cheap points....why didn't he and his cohorts take to twitter when they wanted to remove fuel subsidy. Soon, this would be listed as one of his selling points for the 2015 elections. Na siddon look I dey.
Matthew John Audu: 419
Angel Bijimi" @abayomi u r on point, its nuttin but cheap points. Dey shuld hav gone on twitter 2 sample d opinions of Nigerians b4 removin d subsidy, kip it up ma broda
Jenom Fujuno: I live in Warri - Delta state and sincerely, power has improved in my area a great deal. At first, it was like a dream but right now, we sometimes have an uninterrupted power for over 24hrs. Even when the power ceases, it is restored within a short time.
Felix Kange: It has definitely not! Not in my part of town! Rationing is on and there is no guarantee that we're going to have it when it's our turn! We're told our transformer is over loaded and each household has to contribute money to buy a new one!
Never mind that we pay for no or poor service! What do they do with all the money they collect as bills? Secondly they ought to anticipate that as more houses are being built, the pressure on the transformer will increase!
I'm sure many other neighbourhoods around the country have similar stories to tell! As I write we're in darkness!
Lamba'a Izu: we have transformer so i cannot make any serious commend as to weather the situation has improve or not
Munonyedi Val: @Abayomi, only a negative mind will criticize unconstructively. Using twiter facebook or any other electronic social network to get feedback is a tool being applied both by private and public firms to evalate thier product including politicians and opinion poll, for you to condem the use of it by Mr President already shows your bias against him and his govt(that is where your negativity started) secondly i never mentioned stable rather i said that power has improved in my area which truly it has compared to what we use to experience a year ago. I dont like GEJ but am not blind to some of his good works. Pls my dear try and let off some steam somwhere else and alow some positivity to flow inside of you, if power has not improved iin your area just indicate, the idea is to spot out areas that needs to be worked on(rather than babling about with answers to complete different issue) QED
Munonyedi Val: and to answer your questions, yes my baber and hair dresser are not only on twiter they are also on facebook 2go and yahoo massenger thanks the technology the mobile phone of 5k does the trick these days for them even etisalat phone of 3.5k browses the internet and gives 15mb free on any 200 recharge. If you are backward pls dont reduce our weldershair dresser babers etc to your level. They have really improved. Meaning you have no graps with reality. Pls get yourself in tune with reality even okada riders have facebook account Abayomi Smith
Nwokeji'he Ayodele: D average hairdressers, barbers, welders all stay in d same neighborhood or have their businesses therein.. So they too enjoy d same improved power. I still believe GEJ has a good heart n intention but no thanks to d mafias, cabals surrounding him which obviously are living up to their threats of making d country ungovernable cos they lost out in power. What do u xpect? GEJ to kill dem all?
Onwe Chinasa : Power indeed has improved in my area, i want to advice dat Mr. Presido order dat the prepaid metre be installed in evry state, cos wat PHCN charges us eeeh.
Munonyedi Val: installation of free prepaid meter has commenced(in Abuja). phcn installed installed one in my apartment free of charge curtesy of FG and World Bank, soon it will get to you area @Onwe Chinasa.
Nwokeji'he Ayodele: Prepaid metre is necessary to avoid wastages...
mohdalhassan: I hate to say this my friends, but the current unimaginable power supply improvement in the country is very impressive. The light people are enjoying in kano, at least in our area this last four days is beyond my imagination..
Keep it up GEJ..
