How The EFCC Is Closing In On Godswill Akpabio

Reliable sources have confirmed that while Godswill Akpabio is bribing his way for a photo opportunity with the Sultan of Sokoto, the Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crime Commission, or the EFCC, is preparing the ground to nap Akpabio. One source says that all the EFFC is waiting for is the day it will be obvious that Akpabio is no longer

covered by the Immunity Clause.

Readers may remember a television interview a few months ago during which a lady interviewer informed Akpabio that her studio has in its possession volumes of State Security (SS) report against him. At the interview, Akpabio spoke incessantly to prevent the lady from following up on the matter of the SS report; it worked because the interviewer did not have the opportunity for a revisit.

A source who has had access to the SS report says it is nothing in comparison to what the EFCC has compiled against Godswill Akpabio. “You should see the documents,” the source says, “literally; it is as high as the ceiling.”

Informed sources say the reason the EFCC is interested in compiling evidence against Akpabio may not be unconnected with complaints received at the highest authority from various governments around the world that have complained about the money laundering activities of Godswill Akpabio.

“In order to get to Akpabio, what the EFCC is doing is to go after his foot-soldiers, such as those with the rank of Personal Assistants,” said a source who has insisted on anonymity. According to the source, “many people are not aware that within the last few months, several Personal Assistants are being questioned or picked up by officials of the EFFC for one crime or another.”

One such Personal Assistant is a man by the name of Barrister Daniel Ndata, who, until he was recently detained by the EFCC for questioning over financial improprieties, was working for Ibanga Akpabio, who is not only a brother to Godswill Akpabio, but is also the Secretary of the PDP party in Akwa Ibom State.                    CONTRACT SCAM: Ibanga Akpabio’s aide in EFCC net----by Global Concord newspaper

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday 21st August, 2012 arrested and detained Barr. Daniel Ndata a very close aide to Mr. Ibanga Akpabio, who is a brother to the Akwa Ibom State Governor and the present Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, of a contract scam of over N254 Million.

Our source alleges that in 2007, the Akwa Ibom State Government, under the leadership of Chief Godswill Akpabio, awarded ten roads to MEMKON International Limited to be constructed; Five roads out of the ten were further sub-contracted to different companies which sources say were the only Jobs that were done out of the ten that were awarded by the state government.

Our Government house source hinted us that in 2011, the state government paid N254 million to MEMKON International Limited which Barr. Daniel Ndata is said to be a signatory to the account.

Midweek Global Concord checks reveal that Barr. Ndata’s Office at Ewet Housing Estate has been closed down and the money diverted allegedly on the instructions of Mr. Ibanga Akpabio without paying the sub- contractors that handled the five roads sub-awarded to them by MEMKON International Limited.

The aide to Mr. Ibanga Akpabio who is said to be in the EFCC net is allegedly running a bureau de change in Uyo and other chain of businesses with the scam money.
