When Nigerian graduates get defrauded in name of job employment, we do all sort of things to alert other youths not to fall prey to same consultancy agency. I don't know what to say here. This is the same with federal medical centre Asaba Delta State after advertising for Intern-ship programme which serves as compulsory one year
post graduation programme for medical doctors, Pharmacists, medical laboratory scientist, medical radiographers and medical physiotherapist fail to release the employment letter without any explanation.
Each of the candidate that took part in the written test was made to pick a form for five thousand naira which is hardly the case with hospital in northern part of the country where form is free. They were invited for the test sometime in may after the period of the advert after which an internal publishing of the result was made.Is always the case that this exam comes out the following day just like they did for medical doctors in same establishment to enable a prompt resumption of successful candidates.
Suffix it to say that the exam for intern medical doctors was done earlier and there have since started just like those in other medical fields will want same so they can meet up with NYSC. Here is a reverse of the situation. All we are hearing now is that the hospital said they don't have money to pay this interns if employed. Some people said that is the management style of punishing those affected profession for internal face off they have been having in the hospital at the expense of this fresh from school youths after paying five thousand naira and other miscellaneous expenses.
The number that sat for this exam ran into hundreds with Lab. Scientist recording the most then pharmacists and medical radiography the least I believe that a budget has been laid out before advertising for this positions, why the sudden no money to pay in a govt. owned establishment which is already accredited for such training without communicating the affected people.
Why employ medical house officers and refuse to do same for other professional? Is this not part of the issues affceting nigeria healthcare system where a particular profession sits on tops and take decision that favours only there profession.
To get a Nigerian fresh school graduate to pay five thousand naira is not easy, Elombah please carry your investigative journalism to Federal Medical Centre Asaba and let the management explain the rational behind this act.
Thanks
