ITV talent show The X Factor has caused an international row after the Chinese Embassy lodged an official complaint about noise at the contestants' home. The Chinese Ambassador, who lives next door to the finalists, complained about the noise and disturbance caused by fans outside the house.

A newspaper article questioning the cause of Boyzone star Stephen Gately's death by columnist Jan Moir has triggered 21,000 complaints so far. It is the highest number ever received by the Press Complaints Commission. In the piece, published in the Daily Mail, Moir wrote: "Whatever the cause of death is, it is not, by any yardstick, a natural one."

There was high drama and a tidal wave of tears at the judges' 'homes' as the decisions were made on the X Factor which saw the final 24 acts whittled down to just 12 and more than a few shocks for viewers. The biggest surprise was Cheryl's decision not to put Duane in her final three. After winning the series last year, we can't help but feel that Cheryl has one of the weakest groups with Lloyd, Joseph and Rikki.
