The Petroleum Industry Bill, (PIB) was supposed to be a document that would have revolutionized, transformed and bring about a new order in the petroleum sector. But the current Draft of the Petroleum Industry Bill (2012) is a far cry from that dream. The Presidency received the draft version of the latest Petroleum Industry bill last
weekend. It has forwarded the bill to the Federal Executive Council for consideration before sending it to the National Assembly.
Experts now say that the PIB has been watered down and that the current version was designed to favour the Oil and Gas majors at the expense of the Nigerian people.
