Former Norwagian Prime Minister Commends Cross River’s Economic Policy

Former Prime Minister of Norway, Dr. Gro Bundtland has described the economic policy of the Cross River State Government as exceptional and capable of attracting investments that will create jobs and wealth. The two-time first female Prime Minister made the observation after watching a multimedia presentation on the state during a
dinner organized by Thistle Praxis Consultants in honour of participants and resource persons at the 2-days Africa CEO Round Table and Conference on Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility at Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort Calabar..
Bjundtland, who was the key-note speaker at the conference and accompanied by her husband, noted that incentives made available to foreign investors are prerequisite for industrial growth.
The former Director General, World Health Organization and Chairman UN World Commission on the Environment and Development, disclosed that though it was her first time in the state, she found a new and different experience in Calabar.
The 75 year old widely toured resource personality said she pledged at 35 to render service on environmental issues, society and equity and has traversed the globe delivering lectures and proffering solutions to issues affecting mankind.
In a toast to Brundtland, Governor Liyel Imoke remarked that the dinner was to celebrate her, her intellect, expertise and commitment to service.
The Governor noted that through her numerous lectures, she has touched many lives positively thereby improving economy.
Imoke expressed his happiness to have her in the state as her inputs while delivering her key note address was a worth-while source where the state can tap.
The Governor and the chairman, State Forestry Commission, Dr Odiga–Odiga were among speakers, partners and discussants presented with plaques by Thistle Praxis Consultants as a mark of gratitude for their roles during the conference.
Imoke was cited for supporting and participating actively at the conference.
