Nigerians realised that Umaru Yar’adua’s situation is dire when in unequivocal terms, in a first, presidential spokesman Segun Adeniyi, Yar’adua’s personal physician, Dr Salisu Banye, and Nigerian ambassador to Saudi Arabia Alhaji A. Aminchi took turns to tell a bewildered nation that Yar’Adua had been hospitalised for acute pericarditis, an inflammation of the membrane surrounding the heart which can restrict normal beating of the heart.
