190 Policemen Go AWOL From Training Against Boko Haram
The Police Headquarters has ordered the arrest and prosecution of 190 police officers.
The 190 officers went Away Without Leave [AWOL] from the ongoing training against Boko Haram at the Special Forces School, Buni-Yadi, Yobe State.
The missing officers reportedly went away without leave to avoid participating in the counter-insurgency operations.
They were recently deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, few weeks ago for military duties under Operation Lafiya Dole.
The AWOL officers are part of the 2,000 Mobile Police [MOPOL] Officers mobilised for combat training against Boko Haram in the North-East.
A Police wireless message signed by the Commissioner of Police in charge of MOPOL directed that the errant operatives should be arrested and produced under escort.
