2016 Budget as Fraud: Special Focus on Ministry of Transport

141

“Provision of Sports Equipment for Participation in Sports Activities” will waste N33 million. And you know what, it appeared twice. The second one is penned at N14 million.

I have been devouring the 1810 pages of the 2016 Federal Government budget and the revelations in it are shocking.

I will be starting with the Ministry of transport Headquarters, under the oversight of the Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, not the subsidiaries that have their own separate budget.

Local travel and transport (Training) will gulp N83.9 million.

The same title was repeated but this time “other” instead of training was used, which will consume N98.3 million. What does the “other” mean? Budget of fraud!

One of the titles that will gulp N20.6 million is “Budget Preparation”. What are they preparing that will gulp this? What does it mean?

“Welfare Packages” that are never given out is penned at N40.4 million.

Anniversaries/Celebration will go away with N109.5 million. What anniversaries are done in the Ministry of transport?

Public Relations Tools for Press Unit Department smiled home with N14.3 million? What will they buy for the press to warrant such money?

As a journalist we don’t need more than N4 million in that department. By the way, what happened to the former equipments bought?

“Provision of Sports Equipment for Participation in Sports Activities” will waste N33 million. And you know what, it appeared twice. The second one is penned at N14 million.

“Purchase Of 2 Photocopying Machine Toner” that is sold for less than N500 thousand is now to be bought with N2.8 million.

And the big fraud?

“Procurement of 2 Prado Land Cruiser and 4 Hilux Pickup” is to be bought with N29 Million.

Now, the PRADO is sold for N9 million each while the hilux is sold for N6 million (at inflated rate).

Now be the judge. But what do I know. I’m just a wailer wailing for a better Nigeria.

Tomorrow we shall deal with ministry of works and power.
