2023: Stop running around, we need restructuring, not presidency, Makinde chides Tinubu
The Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, has said that Yorubas clamour for restructuring and not presidency as agitated for by some politicians, evidently taunting the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Governor Makinde made the remarks on Tuesday during the handing over additional operational vehicles and motorcycles to the Oyo State Security Agency, popularly known as Operation Amotekun.
In a statement on Tuesday after the event by his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa, the governor said Nigerians, especially the Yorubas, need adequate security and restructuring of the country, not presidency.
Taunting Bola Tinubu, who has been observed going around the country in pursuit of his presidential ambition, said:
“I have heard some of our political leaders jostling around and saying they want to become the president of Nigeria in 2023.
“I think what we need at this stage is to secure our people and restructure Nigeria. It does not matter who is the president in Abuja.
“In a restructured Nigeria, every corner of the country will feel the impact of government. That is what we need.
“May God protect those running around for presidency till 2022. By that time, we will meet and, by then, we will get to know whether it is restructured Nigeria or Yoruba presidency that we really need.”
Makinde, though, did not mention Asiwaju Bola Tinubu by name in the statement.
Meanwhile, at the event, he handed over 33 additional operational vehicles and 396 motorcycles to the Oyo State Amotekun Corps.
351 motorcycles, he noted, are for each ward in Oyo State, while 45 motorcycles go to the headquarters.
In his concluding remarks, he promised that his administration will continue to support Amotekun to secure every part of the state.
