Adamawa PDP rejects Atiku

Confusion trails the move by former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the Adamawa State chapter of the party said it had banned his return.

Atiku’s media aide, Alhaji Garba Shehu, however, described the purported ban as an exercise in futility.

Announcing the ban of the former Vice-President, in a statement issued in Yola, Wednesday, chairman of the state chapter of the party, Alhaji Umaru Kugama, said the action followed a unanimous decision by all the party leaders, including the state executive, the governor, all members of the National Assembly and other stakeholders.

Kugama said the ban was finalised after a brief discussion between the National leadership of the party and Adamawa PDP stakeholders, adding that the decision has been communicated to the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party.

In a reaction, Atiku’s media aide, Alhaji Garba Shehu, argued that the camp is working on the directives of the PDP National Secretariat that the Adamawa State chapter should commence the process of re-registering the former Vice-President.
