An Open Letter to President Goodluck Jonathan: Sadists in the Judiciary!

We implore you sir, to lead the PDP out of opposition enclaves at least at state levels. Don’t let people deceive you sir, that you need them to win primaries. They need you sir, to rig elections. You don’t need them. Sir, the people of Ekiti must not be suppressed. All of Nigeria must be free. We must not be enslaved all over again. The labour of our heroes past must not be in vain.

An Open Letter to President Goodluck Jonathan: Sadists in the Judiciary! by Akin Lawanson

Dear Sir

We commiserate with you on the demise of the former President. May God help you to bear the loss, even as He grants you the Solomonic wisdom to set us on the path of greatness. Amen.

We have had struggles in this country since the colonial era. And the struggle still continues. Our founding founders got us independence from the British only for us to fall into the hands of the military class.

They turned Nigeria into a model of how a country should not be run. Our founding fathers would weep if availed the opportunity to see the present state of our affairs.

Sir, since God has brought you from the ranks of ordinary Nigerians to the Presidency in such a record short time, I believe He has a mission for you. Nigeria has to take her rightful place in the comity of nations.

Things are once more on the downturn. The Ekiti tribunal is the issue on the front burner sir. The elections in Ekiti were rigged.

This will be so in one hundred years’ time. If anyone is in doubt, the person can ask twenty Ekiti residents at random. . But the elections petition tribunal led by Justice Hamma Barka upheld the election.

They ruled against overwhelming public opinion, newspapers ‘and election observers’ reports. Even common sense. This is shameful and strange. They have contributed their quota to the development or otherwise of our nation.

We will remember them.

Sir, we blame no one but the three judges. Not the PDP, Not former President Obasanjo nor your excellency. We cannot say these judges are sadists, but they gain satisfaction from the suppression of others.

The sad fact is that the PDP is losing prospects of new memberships to these shenanigans. The PDP still has credible people and can be reborn. The PDP was founded on noble ideals….

The task of emancipating Nigerians lies more in the hands of state governments. This is why the credibility of state elections is very vital.

Popular state governments will have to enhance their internally generated revenue IGR, to the extent of bringing federal allocations to insignificance. Unpopular state governments can never do this.

So they can never help their states or Nigeria as a whole. Sir, I implore you to send a strong and clear signal to the judiciary to wake up to their responsibilities and make hay while the sun shines.

SO THAT THEY DO NOT BRING US TO ANARCHY AS HAPPENED IN 1966 AND 1983.

Their sleights of hand appear to be unending.

God bless you sir. I wish you the best. God bless Nigeria!
