Latest information available to indicates that President Umaru Yar’adua will return to Nigeria this week. Insider sources say his family may bring him back home for recuperation. Yesterday it was reported that President Umaru Yar’Adua has regained his voice. The president has had a chronic kidney condition for at least 10 years

Acutely aware of the apprehension of his subjects, and the fact that silence over his state of health had sent the rumour mill into overdrive, the President intends to leave Saudi Arabia quietly and catch his countrymen and women by surprise.

President Yar’Adua handlers are being as cagey about the state of the President’s health, his movement and anticipated arrival time as he has always been about his health.

The daughters of the President including the First Lady of Bauchi State are reportedly in Saudi Arabia awaiting the full recovery of the President and to accompany him to Nigeria. 

The President is currently undergoing treatment for acute pericarditis at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

A source, said “The First Lady, Hajiya Turai Yar’Adua got in touch with her trusted friends and relations on Saturday and confirmed that the President has regained his voice. “The loss of voice was only occasioned by the effect of the drugs he was using. But all is well now.”

The First Lady was reportedly in high spirits when she interacted with her relations and friends, “This signposted the fact that the President is recovering.”
