Recently, Assistant Secretary of state for African Affairs and Robin Sanders, its ambassador to Nigeria visited the former Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida at his Hilltop residence, Minna, Niger State. They have not made public why they paid him that highly controversial visit, but read the interpretation given to the visit by Vincent Ukpong Kalu of the SUN Newspapers and another journalist at the COMPASS Newspaper.

“Sanders’ visit to the retired General in Minna, the Niger State capital, was to indirectly intimate Babangida of the position of the US on the 2011 elections, especially the presidential election, and gives a hint on the likely direction her country was looking at for the emergence of the president next year.
