Detained “Toxic Waste” Ship Disappears from Lagos Port!

Nigeria has continued to be the dumping ground for toxic wastes and discarded industrial products? The countries that have nuclear capabilities are using it, but do not yet know how to dispose of the waste safely and securely. If there is any humane concern in what they are doing, and reason why they should discontinue

the use of nuclear power, it is the lack of the capability to dispose of the waste. It should be enough deterrent to using nuclear power. But it does not. Rather, they smuggle the wastes to the third-world countries, where they could bribe their way through into dumping them, and the ships simply disappear.

The ships may disappear but, of course, their dirty deeds have been done. Whatever the consequence – short and long term – will descend on the population. Probably, that is part of the grand design of the industrialized countries concerned, to wipe out the Black Populations, so as to occupy their geographical areas. This is precautionary and preparatory for the impending deluge that will surely overtake much of the Planet Earth, from the melting of the North Pole Ice Cap, due to the Global Warming.

The acceptance of bribes so as to look the other way, is nothing short of selling the people “for a mess of pottage”. The wonder is that Ngeri Benebo, Director General of Nigeria ‘s environmental standards regulation and enforcement agency, NESREA, is still on duty. He has not resigned or been kicked out!

But if the Basel Action Network, a pressure group that monitors the trade in hazardous waste is active, they should be able to tell us who is shipping the consignment of 500 containers with 400,000 second-hand computers to Nigeria, and which are unloaded every month in Lagos ports. That Nigeria has continued to be the dumping ground for the useless wastes of industrialized countries, and the ships that dump them just melt away, in addition that the information regarding them, and proper official actions are very far to get, is a calamity of unimaginable proportions, of the century!

It is really true that it is not “Money” that is “the Root of All Evil”, but “The Love of Money”. Yes, for “the Love of Money”, by those who are in positions, and are paid to protect Nigeria , and who have abandoned their duties “for the Love of Money”, are ruining Nigeria ! What a shame!

Sincerely yours,

Oyibo E. Odinamadu (Mrs)

A UK-registered ship, the Grand America, which was detained at Lagos port since last week for off-loading seven containers suspected of holding electronic waste has disappeared.

It is not clear yet who ordered the release of the offending vessel which was detained about a week ago.

The containers are still at the port.

Ngeri Benebo, Director General of Nigeria ‘s environmental standards regulation and enforcement agency, NESREA, told the BBC that the Grand America had arrived at Lagos via Antwerp in Belgium .

The BBC’s Chris Ewokor, in Abuja , says the disappearance of the ship raises questions of security lapses at Nigeria ‘s sea ports and the possibility of complicity by security and port authorities.

The Basel Action Network, a pressure group that monitors the trade in hazardous waste, recently published a report which claimed that about 500 containers with 400,000 second-hand computers are unloaded every month in Lagos ports.

Many years ago, someome imported smelly and toxic petrol into Nigeria and no one knew who imported yet. Yet the petrol was sold to the public.

This is the biggest Abracadabra in town. A waste ship …whose owners are willing to pay BIG DOLLARS in SWISS ACCOUNTS..Vanishes in Lagos while being watched by area boys !

If a SHIP can disappear …in the open docked along Marina ….then…no wonder Mrs IBRU was able to move N199 billion…By the way…how did they find out about her hidden wealth. She cannot hide things very well if that is the case.
