“With the wasteful expenditure of over N100 million on the inauguration of Dr Kayode Fayemi as governor of Ekiti State, the Lagos invaders in the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) have shown that they are only out to fill their pockets with the state lean resources. For over N100 million to have been lavished on Fayemi’s swearing-in, it is evidently clear that the Lagos cowboys have come to Ekiti State to loot” – Former Governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni
In a statement issued by Oni’s Chief Media Aide, Mr Wale Ojo-Lanre, and made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday, Segun Oni also alleged that “the ACN-led government was already planning to take N10 billion loan to settle the electoral and tribunal expenses, urged Ekiti people not to be carried away by the propaganda and populist posture of the new government.
We have gathered reliably that over N100 million was spent to hire aircraft, 70 BRT buses, musicians, masters of ceremony and other expenses like hotel bills, both in Ado and Akure for over 1,000 guests from Lagos, entertainment of guests and arrangement of women of easy virtues for the guests.”
Present Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi’s response is that “Oni is idle; we have no time for him”
His supporters backed him.

He continued: I hope they acknowledge the loud public demand that they should be tried for stealing the mandate that was not theirs and looting a state for three and half years without any legal mandate
Joe Igbokwe: So these people are still talking, these votes’ robbers, and these looters of Ekiti Treasury, the murderers of Ekiti, the scavengers of Ekiti, and the killers of Ekiti. He Fayemi should ignore them and fix eyes on ball.
Bob Olukoya: I am appalled that this Electoral Robber (ER) called Segun Oni can open his murderous mouth and falsely accuse HE JKF of Fraud!
Its really not his fault. If not for the amnesty generously granted him by HE JKF, he would be cooling his filthy feet in jail by now for the electoral heist and treasury looting he visited on Ekiti State.
This is the same man that was lamenting few days ago to OGD that President Jonathan did not deem it appropriate to compromise the Judiciary in his favour! Undemocratic nuisance!
The same man that caused the maiming and killing of his kinsmen/women all in his bid to thwart the popular will of the people!
This same ER that could not provided school buses for the students of the State University despite the challenging geographical difficulties faced by the students!
This same man that hiked university fees to unbearable levels for students and their parents! Despite the Fountain of Knowledge posture of the State under his fraudulent watch!
This same ER that woefully failed to develop agriculture in the State that has the climate and land mass to feed the whole Western region!
This ER should shut up and allow HE JKF concentrate on repairing the damage he has caused Ekiti!
Was the certified ER in Ekiti during the inauguration? Did he have recordings of the 75 BRT buses? Yeye man. Where were the BRT buses parked? Maybe in Ifaki?
For the records: I was in Ekiti on that day and I counted a maximum of 5 BRT buses.
Why should HE JKF join issues with a certified ER? Let him publish evidence of his allegation or shut up forever!
Finally, please note that he was never a governor and should not be referred to as ‘former governor’! His proper title is “ER of Ekiti State”.
However, observers noted that the allegations have NOT been addressed! “Oni is now idle and jobless” is not a response. The man may be an electoral thief, but like it or hate it; he is now a top politician in the State, with some visibility and intelligence into the inner workings of the State Government. When he makes an allegation like this, it needs to be addressed seriously.

Did Governor Fayemni spend 100 Million on his inauguration alone? We are in Nigeria, so these things are NOT inconceivable! If the allegation is patently false, perhaps the Governor’s office can simply tell the citizens of Ekiti state how much they spent on the inauguration? Transparency never hurts!
Another question: Is it true that “already planning to take N10 billion loan to settle the electoral and tribunal expenses”? We are in Nigeria, so these things are NOT inconceivable! If the allegation is patently false, perhaps the Government can again tell the people how it is going to settle the electoral and tribunal expenses? Transparency never hurts!
While rejoicing that justice has been done in Ekiti State, we should also be vigilant and ensure that Folks will not leave the vital issue raised on this matter of corruption and engage in Unnecessary AD HOMINEM attacks.
