The Chief Imam of the Abuja National Mosque Ustaz Musa Mohammed has told newsmen today after the Friday prayers that he actually met Yar’adua on Tuesday. Ustaz Musa said that he together with four Islamic clerics – leader of the Izala Muslim sect in Katsina State, Sheik Yakubu Musa; Sheik Isa Pantami; and the President of the Supreme Council of Sharia in Nigeria (SCSN), Sheik Ibrahim Datti Ahmed went to see see President Yar’Adua in Aso Rock.
“We met him, Alhamudummilahi”, he said. “We were led upstairs to see the president. We met him seated. He was not in an incubator as was reported in the media. he was seated with his wife, Turai, by his left side. His Aide-de-Camp (ADC), Col. Mustapha Onoyiveta was standing behind him. He was not sitting, but he was standing. and in front of him, a Table”.
When a Journalist asked the Imam the Condition of Yar’adua, he replied.
“We offered prayers for his health so that he will come back as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is not in incubator. He raised up his hand like this (raised his hand to his face), the way Muslims do when they pray. He is not in an incubator.
“When we are going, Yar’Adua stretched out his hand and shook every one of us”.
Significantly, though, Ustaz Musa did not indicate whether Yar’adua talked to them, or said anything, confirming earlier reports that he was yet to fully regain his voice.
Since his return on February 23 2010 from Saudi Arabia where he had gone for medical treatment, Yar’adua has neither been seen in public nor spoken to anyone.
