When we look those whose nominees were accepted by Acting President Goodluck Jonathan as Ministers, He seems to be paying his IOU’s to Obasanjo, Ogbulafor, Bankole, Danjuma and David Mark. “In Ogun State, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo single-handedly determined the candidates. The two candidates are alleged to be politically estranged with Governor Gbenga Daniel.
“But to pacify the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Dimeji Bankole, who is from Ogun State, the Acting President asked the Speaker to nominate a cabinet member from a state in the South-West outside Ogun State.
“Governor Ikedi Ohakim was shocked that his nominee was rejected in favour of Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho, who is the choice of the National Chairman of PDP, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor.
“The governor is querying why Ogbulafor, who is from Abia State, should have to determine the state’s nominee. We know that Iheanacho has always been the candidate of Ogbulafor, and he had tried to force the nominee on President Yar’Adua twice without security clearance.
“As for the Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, his nominee was rejected in favour of the slot conceded to the President of the Senate, Chief David Mark.
NATIONAL Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor disclosed Thursday that for being instrumental to the submission of Chukwuemeka Ngozi Chineke Wogu as a ministerial nominee to represent his home state, Abia, he has broken the jinx of injustice.
“As for Kwara State, it is a battle royale between the Chairman of the Governors’ Forum, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee, Gen. T. Y. Danjuma.
“Saraki had already re-nominated the immediate past Minister of Transport, Alhaji Isa Bio Ibrahim from Kwara North Central District, but Danjuma insisted on the choice of his former Special Assistant, Mr. John Dara, from Kwara South”.
Ladies and Gentlemen, who says the Governors are the new god-fathers?
Meanwhile, Following recent media publications that former President Olusegun Obasanjo handedly picked the South West ministerial nominees, maverick preacher of the Latter Rain Assembly, Lagos, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has said Nigerians should prepare for another third term debacle.
The SUN reports that Bakare warned that if those who contributed to the present quagmire in Nigeria are brought back as ministers, Nigerians would be mobilized to turn the heat on the acting president.
According to Bakare: I don’t know those who made it through the screening and those who did not make it. If the likes of those we think are part of our problems are in it, we should know that we are going to turn the heat on the acting president because we are not going to open our eyes and let them squander the wealth of the nation any further.
We need performance-oriented people. We do not need a cabinet of political patronage. If Obasanjo is still the one handpicking the ministers that Jonathan is approving, then I am welcoming Nigerians to another era of failed third term but we will truncate it before it takes root.
While calling on Nigerians to rise up and take their own destiny in their hands and go beyond the enough is enough, to stop this nonsense, Bakare said: If Nigerians do not rise and let their voices be heard, then the subjugation will continue.
Pastor Bakare was one of the leaders of Save Nigeria Group (SNG), a coalition of civil society organizations that staged rallies across the country to press for the installation of Goodluck Jonathan as the acting president after a prolong absence of President Umaru Yar’Adua from the country.
The SNG also demanded the implementation of Justice Mohammed Uwais Electoral Reform Panel reports as the only panacea for future free and fair elections in the country.
