I got accross this hot air for Frederick Fasehun that if the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta (MEND) dares to launch attacks on any part of Lagos State again, members of the Oodua… People’s Congress (OPC) will meet it fire-for-fire. OPC‘s founder, Dr. Frederick Fasehun, made this declaration at Okota, Lagos while addressing journalists.
He added: “MEND should know that OPC has the capacity to return fire-for-fire. So MEND should not provoke an unnecessary crisis between us.”
Which kind Doctor be this Fasehun sef?
But wait, why should any issue in Nigeria be looked at through tribal prisms? One fellow on a Nigeria forum wrote this about Fasehun’s hot air:
What a friend indeed !I hope the Ijaw and the rest are reading this warning by OPC…their GEAR FRIEND who jumped ship before it was fully loaded. Am I surprised…? Hell No! A Fed, Project was bombed carrying oil from south-south…these people are not trying to be on the side of the NORTH that they are still one of them.
One Hausa Senator was telling me that no PROTECTION MONIES will go to LAGOS if they think that they will use the attack to ask the FED to pump monies into Lagos. It will not fly. No part of this fund will leave south-south for another side project.
Back to the FRIENDS ……Where is Lawyer ROTIMI of Washington DC… who has a very good heart in activism. He has always wanted to know why IGBO never backed his demonstrations when Abacha had Yoruba in the gutters of Isolo….This is your answer…Yorubas do not have friends …only where their interests abound that you find them.
If MEND blows up Niger Bridge tomorrow…I want you to know the importance of Niger Bridge…IGBO will blame it on the FED and not to WARN FED…. We know what MEND is all about. The Yoruba and Fashola and OPC and Afanifere and the Ekiti naked women gave news conferences before the FED that owns the installations could determine the extent of damages done to their properties. These people never come in two forms.
But when their political party AD/AC are in coma…they need an IGBO Party to marge with to be relevant. They can not be using other people like that any more …Did you notice that the FED did not send in the army, just the police…they know where the action is…at the mouth of River Niger.

About direct confrontation. ..OPC are just OPC…MEND will wipe out their villages in minutes… I am not talking about their hide outs. MEND will take down bridges in MARINA. .. So this FIRE FOR FIRE talk is hot air after Amala and Ewedu consumption. .. What will OPC do? They do not have the monies…The PDP Governors are not Bank rolling OPC any more since PDP took over West with the with of Obasanjo. What can they do…Dr Fashaun ran to Long Island New York because he was afraid of Dr Gani Adams the carpenter who wanted to build coffin….crying uncle Obasanjo help.
Which OPC chapter has the ammunition to challenge MEND? Nigeria is begging America and Britain for help ….When one examines these empty talks …you begin to wonder. !!!!!
Is it not amazing that Dr Fasehun is now healthy but will get sick very shortly on any declaration. He will move to America….. And the stupid boys will be running around with charms on their necks till MEND mows them down….shouting all over like DJ Dippo.

However, according to him, there is no plan yet for retaliation over the attack MEND launched on Atlas Cove on Monday. His words: “We view MEND’s attack on the Atlas Cove with a measure of discomfort. That bombing left collateral damage, on not just this key Federal Government facility, it left death in its trail.
Some of the lives and property lost were those of Yoruba people. “We have no plan yet for retaliation if there’s no occurrence. An adage says, ‘to be forewarned, is to be forearmed!’ The Yoruba people have been friends with South-South. But such installations bombed were in Yoruba land. They should stop targeting what will involve the lives and properties of the land.
We take this incident as mistake of the mind and not of the heart. Yoruba people are not slumbering, when the occasion warrants, they’ll find us very alert. If there’s any reoccurrence to demonstrate fire-power, OPC can match them muscle-for-muscle. We’ve sworn to protect the interest of the Yoruba people.
We are well grounded on that.” Fasehun said MEND had already explained that the attack was not deliberate and was allegedly carried out by a dissident group of its organisation. He revealed that OPC was willing to accept the explanation, but advised MEND to endeavour to keep its men in check.
Congratulating MEND’s leader, Mr. Henry Okah for finally regaining freedom from prison after 17 months, Fasehun urged the South-South leader to quickly contribute to the settlement of the crisis in the Niger-Delta.
He wants MEND to accept the olive branch extended by Federal Government. He added: “While equally commending the Federal Government for this gesture, we hope it will significantly drive the peace process in the Niger-Delta.
“Fasehun insisted that the Federal Government should introduce a short-term, stopgap, measure wherein the Niger-Delta altercations could be amicably resolved at a conference table supervised by notable Nigerians.
While advising the Federal Government to take the issue of security with all seriousness, so that it wouldn’t be caught napping again by enemy forces or militants, Fasehun said:
“As MEND knows, we wholeheartedly support the just agitations of the Niger-Delta nationalities. But we enjoin MEND and other Niger-Delta militants henceforth to desist from turning our land into battle field.
“MEND should know that OPC has the capacity to return fire-for-fire. So MEND should not provoke an unnecessary crisis between us.”
