which kind electoral reform?

President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua gave Nigerians high hopes when he inaugurated the Electoral Reform Panel last year. The much-touted electoral reform has come to Omoba as an anti-climax.

When the Federal Executive Council met last Wednesday to consider the draft white paper on the Muhammadu Uwais Panel report, it was to shock Nigerians with its rejection of the major recommendation of the panel, namely the appointment of the INEC chairman by the NJC rather than the president.

So, the question Omoba is asking is: in whose interest is this reform being carried out?
