29 persons involved in road crash in Anambra


Twenty nine persons have reportedly been involved in a multiple serious road crash at Abba after UKPO Police station in Anambra State, today, 8th February, 2021 at about 1225hrs.

This was contained in a repoty made available to ElombahNews by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC ) tagged “First Information Report on a serious multiple road traffic crash at Abba after Ukpo Police Station“.

According to a report, the crash was between Mr Stephen Nzegwu driving an IMV Pick-Up owned by Anambra Vigilante Services with vehicle registration number 02E-678AN and Mr Ifeanyi Ezim driving 608 Coater bus owned by Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka with registration number AE 478 ABS.

Eyewitness report documented by FRSC shows that the crash was as a result of Speeding and wrongful overtaking.

Road crash at Abba after UKPO Police station in Anambra State

It shows that twenty nine (29) persons were involved in the Crash, comprisses of (20 male adults and 9 female adults).

The report said: “One (1) female adult sustained injury and was taken to UKPO General hospital by FRSC rescue team from Nteje Unit Command for treatment.

“The Sector Commander Anambra State CC Andrew A Kumapayi FHNR send his prayers to the injured person for quick recovery.

“He admonished motorist to avoid Overtaking, they should only overtake when and where it’s safe to do so.

“He also warn against speeding. He said speed trills but kills.

“And It’s dangerous to Speed in built up areas, for it can lead to serious road traffic crash.

“Recommended speed limit of 50km/hr should be applied in built up areas.”
