A call to Ndi Imo to wake up; you don’t have to wait till 2019

Ndi Imo, you don’t have to wait till 2019 to do the needful. Rochas Okorocha has expressed in unmistakable terms that he does not have what it takes to even be a local government Councillor, not to talk of a Governor.

Since Imo State was created on the 3rd of February 1976, it has had the best (Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe), the good (Ndubuisi Kanu, Allison Madueke, Anthony Oguguo), the average (Ike Nwachukwu, Sunday Adenihun, Amadi Ikwechegh, Adekunle Lawal, Achike Udenwa, Evan Enwerem, James Aneke, and the bad (Tanko Zubairu, Ikedi Ohakim) and now the worst, and probably the worst it will ever have in its history – Rochas Anayochi Okorocha.

Rochas Okorocha has finally become an aberration to governance anywhere in the world even in Somalia, and I think he is the biggest disservice to the All Progressives All-Progressive Congress.

Ndi Imo, I do not blame you for choosing him instead of Ohakim. I too was fooled by his sweet tongue. However, if you are traveling from Lagos to Onitsha, and after three hours you found yourself in Badagry, you do not need anybody to tell you that you will never get to Onitsha; rather, you may find yourself in Cotonou. If you truly want to get to Onitsha, the best option is to reverse, and head back to Lagos to reconnect to Onitsha.

It will amount to a waste of space and data to write about the desecration governance has been subjected to just because someone like Rochas is in power.

Equally perfidious for someone like him to take a title that has the same spelling and sound as that of the Greatest Zik of Africa.

Having good skill of oratory, ability to hold an audience spellbound, good command of spoken English, and also being able to quote Shakespeare, W.E.B Du Bois, Marcus Garvey, and Timothy Thomas Fortune like Rt. (Hon) Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe does not in any way place anybody in same light as Zik.

Ndi Imo, you did not wait for government agencies when you rose up and sack ritualists in the infamous Otokoto saga. You enthroned same Rochas in 2011. You can dethrone him.

Reject Rochas in his entirety. Reinstating the sacked workers is not even a condition, he should be rejected.

Some will say that whether you like it or not he will be there till 2019 but that is not true. You can still do something. Make his governorship so insignificant he will end up governing only his family.

Remember, if you force a boy to stand up when he wants to sit down, even though he is standing physically, but in his mind, he is sitting down, and that is what counts.

Ndi Imo eji eme onu, reject Rochas, and let him remain rejected; reject his ridership; carry on as a State with no governor; deny him that pride of place in the comity of leaders.

No! You don’t have to wait till 2019 because you don’t prepare for war in time of war. You do so in time of peace.

Agbara kpawa ike, agwa ya osisi ejiri pia ya.
