Abia: NURTW fires Sunny Nwakodo, others, says his antics are old-fashioned

The Executive members of the Abia State National Union Of Road Transport Workers have fired one Mr. Sunny Nwakodo over an illegal radio announcement, where he said he has dissolved a duly elected State leadership of NURTW and has appointed a former State Chairman of NURTW, Mr. Sunday C Akomas as a caretaker Chairman.

In a release made available to newsmen by the State secretary of NURTW, Mr. Lazarus Kalu, described Sunny Nwakodo as a known agent of nuisance whose track record of constituting trouble is well-known by all and sundry.

The release said that Sunny Nwakodo, a former State Chairman of NURTW has no such power in the Union’s constitution to either dissolve or appoint anybody.

The statement reads, “Sunny Nwakodo and his Co travelers are the proverbial butterflies that see themselves bird, and it is expedient that we educate them. National Union in Abia State has remained peaceful and progressive since the inception of the current administration, we can’t fold our hands and watch merchants of venice destroy and jeorpadize the progressive strides the Union has made in Abia.

“In the history of National Union in Abia State, the current administration has made more impacts than the 10yrs of Sunny Nwakodo and 4yrs of Sunday C Akomas put together. Under one year of the current administration, we have been able to bequeath a State Secretariat for the Union. We need no soothsayer to be told that such fit achieved by the current administration in just a year in office, has subtly unsettled some greedy former leaders whose only ideology of running a union is to share every penny the Union gets.

“We are not unaware of the lies and series of prevarications being churned out by Sunny Nwakodo, a supposedly former State Chairman of NURTW and his Co travelers, in a bid to paint a Union he once headed black, but we are constrained to remind Nwakodo of the proverb that says – when you sell your own brother, even the buyer will not trust you. We want the world to be on the know that Nwakodo is a replica of the proverbial old hen who after feeding from the pot of porridge wants the pot broken into pieces.

“The National Union of Road Transport Workers in Abia State is stronger and better with Eugene Eze Job as her State Chairman, and we the State EXCOS strongly pass our votes of confidence on him as he is poised to leading us to the path of progress.”

“In the same vein, we warn merchants of Venice to desist forthwith from instigating problems as such antics are old-fashioned.

“The Union has for long gone beyond the primordial era of rifting and fissuring, and those who instigate problems in order to feed fat should understand that they nolonger have a place in today’s contemporary way of running the union,” the release said.
