Abia State: Sorrows Of A Badly Misruled State ―By Ikem Awazie

Abia state is perhaps the most potentially endowed state in the South East. But the state is in such a mess that Nigerians have been asking if there are elders in the state.

The state Capital, Umuahia is a glorified village. Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state is in total quagmire.

Everywhere is stinking and all the lords in charge in the state are interested is the collection of revenue from the numerous markets in the town which largely end up in private pockets.

Nothing is working in Abia state and there is no evidence of where the trillions of naira allocated to the state since 1999 went to.

Abian pensioners have been owed for two years and the workers for one year now. In some establishments like Abia Polytechnic Aba, the workers have been owed for several months and the pensioners too.

The situation in Abia state is indeed horrible and unless something urgent is done the state will collapse soon while its trillions are now in private pockets. Can the Supreme save the unfortunate state.

MAY we use this medium to appeal to the federal government to intervene and save

Abia state from a well orchestrated and calculated attempt to keep the state down and unworkable.

The Abia Gubernatorial judgment expected on 12th May, 2017 is now subject to several insinuations.

There has been insinuation that the Abia state government has diverted bail out funds and Paris Club funds to the Supreme Court judges to favour them in the case.

There are also insinuations that huge amounts of state funds have been used to settle third parties to influence the judgment.

While all these are in the realms of speculation  the federal government should thoroughly investigate these allegations  as there is no smoke without fire.

Past insinuations turned out to be true thus confirming that there is a conspiracy to keep Abia state down.

Nigerians and Abians are keenly watching!
