Activist Blasts Buhari For Hiding After ‘Testing Negative’ To Covid-19 While Boris Johnson Leads UK
Constitutional Lawyer and Human Rights Activist, Mr. Inibehe Effiong has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari for hiding from Nigerians after his results showed “negative” to the dreadful Coronavirus [Covid-19].
Mr. Effiong took to his social media handle to blast President Buhari for hiding while his British counterpart, “Boris Johnson is still… directly leading efforts to contain the pandemic in the UK”, despite testing positive to COVID-19.
The human rights lawyer recalled that Buhari’s only effort to reach Nigerians was a few seconds video in which he could not state the name of the most popular disease in the world today correctly, pronouncing COVID-19 as COVIK 1-9.
Effiong regretted why the president’s aides will be “making excuses for our absentee president and reducing leadership to comedy”.
See the statement below:
Despite testing positive to COVID-19, Boris Johnson is still the one directly leading efforts to contain the pandemic in the UK.
His Nigerian counterpart tested negative to the same COVID-19, but went into hiding and has been communicating through his proxies on social media.
Johnson is in self-isolation but has deployed technology to reach the British people and his cabinet via videoconferencing and live video broadcast.
Buhari only made a few seconds video in which he could not state the name of the most popular disease in the world today correctly.
COVID-19 suddenly became COVIK 1-9.
As if that was not depressing enough, comments on social media shows that the British people are generally critical of Johnson’s efforts despite testing positive to coronavirus. British people are demanding more action and making demands.
In Nigeria, many are telling us that we don’t need the President to do anything personally since the NCDC and the Minister for Health are there.
We are making excuses for our absentee president and reducing leadership to comedy. They’re telling us that we’re asking for too much.
