No fewer than three people are feared dead as a result of a bomb blast that occurred around noon time opposite AA Duhu filling station, close to Kabang junction, in Mubi town, Adamawa, sources in Mubi, told our Correspondent.
The bomb is said to have been set off unknowingly by three scavengers who stumbled upon the explosive material in a debris of used and dumped irons.
The Adamawa state commissioner for information and strategy, Ahmed Sajoh confirmed the incident.
Sajoh said, one of the boys whose face was blown off by the bomb has been identified as Saidu Ahmed and the other two are in a critical condition and are receiving medical attention.
Sajoh cautions the public that residents of conflict areas most be cautious that there may be residue of bomb within the community and most make it a duty to report unknown items and persons to relevant security agencies for immediate action.
Sajoh explained that based on the evidence available, the incident was neither a suicide bomb blast nor an attack.
He said the boys affected by the bomb blast were scavengers who stumbled upon the explosive materials without knowing what it was and were at junction to cash on the item when it exploded.
