After squandering treasury, Obiano begins sale of state properties barely a year to leave office
The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has placed selected state properties on sale barely a year to leave office after squandering all the money in the treasury.
News of the sale of state properties was contained in an advertorial on Vanguard newspaper on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
Citizens noted that the Obiano administration is selling the properties with one year to reach the end of its tenure when all the money in the treasury are practically gone.
It could be recalled that the former governor of the state, Mr. Peter Obi left a whopping 75 billion Naira in the state treasury plus other assets while leaving office seven years ago.
Presently, Governor Obiano has not only squandered the handed over money but has plunged the state into a massive two hundred billion Naira debt.
The affected state properties placed on sale are five buildings located in Enugu State.
Meanwhile, it is on record that the Anambra Government led by Obiano has not project it could point to as haven started and completed.
Uncompleted projects, especially those initiated by the Peter Obi administration litter several towns and villages in the state.
Besides all the overwhelming setbacks, the State is in a two-hundred-billion-Naira debt.
Reports from some quarters close to the governor said that ever since assuming office seven years ago, he has acquired about twenty properties in several African countries, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, wondered why Obiano will be acquiring properties but at the same selling of state government-owned ones.
He expressed worries that the governor will end up selling and buying all said properties to and for himself.
In the words of a concerned Anambra State citizen, Mr. Odumodu Gbulagu, “Anambra is in ruins!”
