Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi’s Nomination, A Sign That General Buhari’s Anti Corruption Campaign is flawed & that The Buhari Campaign Organisation will not refund the billions Amaechi channeled to it – Press Release By the Salvage Rivers State Movement

While we are not at all surprised by the nomination of Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi as a Ministerial candidate, especially given the huge amounts of money running into billions of naira diverted from the coffers of Rivers State and channeled into promoting the presidential campaign of General Muhammadu Buhari and the operations of APC in many states of the Federation, we are a bit concerned that this singular move adds value to the proposition that the so called quest by General Buhari to fight corruption in Nigeria is not on warped but deeply flawed.

In recent times, we have openly demanded that both APC and The Buhari Campaign Organisation should declare to Rivers people, the actual amount of money they received from former Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi with a view to returning it to the people of Rivers State when proof that it was money stolen from the coffers of Rivers State have been established by the relevant agencies.

We believe, that with the nomination of Amaechi as a ministerial candidate, neither APC nor the Buhari Campaign Organization is likely to refund the billions of Naira that was stolen from Rivers State and channeled to the Buhari Presidential Campaign.

The Salvage Rivers State Movement reminds the Federal Government and its anti-corruption agencies that it was Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, as Governor, who threatened to mobilize Rivers people against the operations and activities of EFCC and ICPC in Rivers State some years ago.

Today, General Buhari, the self appointed patron saint of probity, has appointed the same person as minister. Thanks to the billions of naira that was stolen from Rivers State and used to fund the Buhari Campaign.

We will continue to seek justice.

God bless Rivers State.
