Anambra 2017: APC Delegates Raise Alarm Over Juju Oath By Aspirant

63

Palpable fears have seized most of the about four thousand five hundred anticipated statutory and special delegates who would vote to select who flies the gubernatorial flag of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in coming Nov 18,2017 election in Anambra state.

The delegates, according to Chief Damian Muo-Udevi from  Anambra West council area of the state were mandated to swear to an oath by one of the governorship aspirants who he described as “money bag politician who just joined the party from another discredited platform”.

The visibly angry Muo-Udevi, who claimed to be among the delegates approached spoke to journalists at Nzam, Anambra West council area yesterday wondered “why would a hitherto political party like the APC allow these trouble makers come in with so much air and at same time want to run roughshod of the bonafide members”

“They have been going round all the 21 councils of the state with bags of money since weekend luring and manipulating delegates to come swear to a multiple deity that they would vote the man”

When taken on the clear identity of the aspirant and if he has any party official on the tour with him, Chief Muo-Udevi said yes. He pointed out that the man in question has remained in the corridors of power since the dawn of contemporary democracy but has no single project to his name in the state or elsewhere in the country.

Describing him as “a failed politician”, he asked rhetorically, “…how can a man who has played around in the presidency, National Assembly and Anambra politics for the past two decades without any single achievement want to come to govern Anambra state?

“It’s clear he has nothing to offer to the people.

“He has never validly contested any election in his life, instead he always use tons of cash to mesmerize and circumvent laid down rules and processes.

“That is clearly the reason he has been going around now dumping cartons of cash on the laps and doorsteps of all those he feels would be relevant in the Aug 19,2017 governorship primary where the party would elect who would be its standard bearer in the Nov 18,2017 election in Anambra state.”

Chief Muo-Udevi who organized the mini-protest press briefing alongside other aggrieved citizens urged the party leaders at the headquarters not to allow the party be extinguished at this its embryonic stage of acceptance in the state by this man’s desperate ambition.

“APC is bigger than any man’s selfish ambition”, he added.

When the state chairman of the party, Mr Emeka Ibe was contacted for reaction, he said he was not aware of any such incident. But urged the members to report anyone coercing them surreptitiously to the party for instant disciplinary action.

It could be recollected that a fortnight ago members of the party from Ibe’s home-council area of Orumba South LGA bearing placards with uncomplimentary inscriptions stormed the party’s stakeholders’ meeting in Awka demanding his removal over allegation of financial impropriety.

They had accused him of collecting huge sums of money, a house and an SUV from one of the governorship aspirants who just joined APC for the sake of grabbing the ticket.

He has since denied that.
