Anambra APC celebrates Chris Ngige at 69
Our dynamic chapter heartily rejoices with our inspirational leader, Sen. Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige on the auspicious occasion of his 69th birthday.
With joy in our hearts, we note that the man of history stands tall on the eve of three- scores-and-ten with enough to celebrate.
As a student leader, Ngige played his role and learnt the ropes fast, leaving his mark in the Medical Students Association and the Students Union of University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus.
As a medical doctor, Ngige left indelible bond with his patients, many of who turned round to impact his public life, just by being professional and thorough.
As a public servant who rose through the ranks to exit at directorate level, Ngige approached his duty from the prism of public interest.
As a private sector practitioner and business man, Ngige applied himself to targets and delivered on them effortlessly.
As President of the town union in his native Alor, Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, Ngige took finacial burden off the downtrodden and yet made quantum achievements in projects and reforms.
As six-year long President of Aka Ngige ;a body of Igbo professionals who set the pace for economic and political development in their homeland, Nigige was a champion of projects that altered human indices to higher heights.
Ngige led Aka Ikenga into the almighty corporate coalition, Mkpoko Igbo which set the agenda and canvassed the six-zonal structure in the 1994/5 Constitutional Conferences and saw it materialise into a new national dictum. He earned the enduring sobriquet, ‘Igbo Leader’ in this capacity.
As a political party leader, Ngige placed enough pragmatic ideas on the table, and walked his talk to steer the platforms he has been associated with to victory.
As a governor he posted the stellar perfomance which effectiveness and results have been etched in Anambra State memory, more than some eight-year double tenures.
As a senator, Ngige who served in seven strategic committees of the Senate bequathed a catalogue of feats encapsulated in a 72-page document which phenomically impacted all three senatorial zones of Anambra State not just Anambra Central that he represented.
Now serving for the second tenure as Minister of Labour & Employment, Ngige who halted Anti-labour stance of some banks using the hitherto less-refrenced Section 20 of the Labour Act has demonstrated mastery of the portfolio and taken government through otherwise difficult labour situations successfully.
His membership of the board of the Inteenational Labour Organisation has internationalised some of the sterling qualities, for which he is reputed.
Little wonder he enjoys the confidence of President Muhammad Buhari.
We cannot but admire this wonderful profile and the personality behind it, even as we in Anambra State particularly remember the liberation of the state from the strangulating hold of leeches, posing as ‘godfathers’ to pave the way for the new Anambra State.
We wish HE. Sen. (Dr.) Chris Nwabueze Ngige, OON, Onwa the best of his new age and pray for the fulfillment of his positive aspirations in future.
