Anambra APC Hails Muoghalu, Sets NIWA target

Our dynamic Chapter of our great party heartily congratulate Chief George Moghalu, great Anambra Son, proudly Igbo patriot, quintessential nationalist and National Auditor of APC on his well- deserved appointment as the new Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority ( NIWA).

Once again we acknowledge the fair- mindedness of the president Muhammadu Okechukwu Buhari , GCFR, who has elevated looking beyond the ephemeral noise of cynicism into a high art.

Chief Moghalu, aka Ohamadike has held various government position in Anambra and Abia States and is coming from a high pedestal of knowledge which combines with his unparalleled humility, exquisite interpersonal relationship skills, proven management of resources and intelligence to define him as a round peg in a round hole regarding his new role.

As Ohamadike resumes his work next week our chapter ,as we share the joyful moment, note that the timing of his appointment has done well to shatter two conspiracy theories founded on fake news.

In the first place it gives the lie to a package of ignorance that has led Moghalu’s part of Nigeria to circulate information that the federal government has sent an executive bill to the National Assembly, seeking to take control of all inland waterways. FG does not need such a bill. The Central Government in Abuja, by law in charge of all inland waterways as can be reconfirmed by the appointment of Chief Moghalu to head a 32- year NIWA , created from being a department of in the Federal Minjstry of ministry of Transport in 1997.

The second myth is that Buhari hates Anambra State and Ndigbo, spread like margarine over bread, by enemies of love.

This appointment must be another expression of hate.

The previous ones were the choice of Wilberforce Chinwuba Okadigbo and Edwin Umeezeoke to at various times run as mates with Buhari on the Presidential ticket.

If hate means the foregoing as well as resuscitating and constructing all federal roads in the South East, executing and diligently progressing the construction of the Second Niger bridge, after reviewing its ‘drawing board’ to remove the avoidable padding and enslaving toll gates, we invite more hate from Buhari.

If being determined to see Enugwu Airport become a real International Airport, Abakiliki get another international airport and Sam Mbakwe Airport Owerri getting a deserved facelift, we need to be in church every Sunday praying for more presidential hate from Buhari.

We challenge Chief Moghalu to bring this message home by recalling that the mantle for dredging of the lower River Niger ,flagged off in 2009 by President Umar Yar’ Adua in 2009, fell on NIWA.

But the project died of corruption hemorrhage within the pre- 2015 years of the locust invasion.

It is our considered view that bringing the project back to life from his new office will complete the tripod economic integration of the South East with the rest of Nigeria, which Buhari has been on without noise.

We look forward to seeing these come true under President Buhari.

The Second Niger Bridge which is one of four priority projects of Buhari combines with the proposed Lagos Calabar rail line to address the road entry. The proposed international and local airports address the air entry, Ohamadike’ s resuscitated dredging of the Lower Niger and the coming to life of its ports will address the water entry.

We wish Chief Moghalu well on the new feather in his cap, but wish him no rest at all, until success is achieved in the set challenges and more.

Once again congratulations to a high flying Igbo public servant with clean records.
