We call on the candidate of APGA in the deferred Anambra Central repeat elections to the senate, Sir Victor Umeh to show cause why anyone from Anambra State, no less, Anambra Central should ever trust him, having betrayed the trust of members of his own party from which he collected huge sums of money valued at N308 million, as confessed by Dr Joe- Martins Uzodike in one election and converted the money.
We would also like Sir Umeh to explain publicly, how and why he as National Chairman of APGA conspired with Gov. Peter Obi to siphon N2.4 billion belonging to Anambra State to run his political party, only to further convert the said Anambra State funds to personal use, thereby incurring the wrath of his party and leading to avoidable political crisis affecting the entire state.
We also urge Umeh to explain to Anambra Central constituents and Anambra State citizens why he had to collect the sum of N60 million as bribe in order to append his signature for the candidature of Chief Willie Obiano as governorship candidate in 2013, as confessed also by Chief Uzodike.
The position of a senator, and indeed all positions of representation where people entrust the right to advance aspects of their lives to others, is a big position of trust and it does not require any extra efforts on the part of the electorate to convince Sir Umeh that the coming election in Anambra Central Senatorial zone and indeed all future elections is over for him unless, explanation and remedial action can be found to this graft.
APC abhors stealing and corruption.
While we would not rush into any overbearing condemnations in the time being, we urge Sir Umeh not to ever be under the illusion that the issues in the air will go away until they are fully addressed under our watch in a democratic era that is fighting corruption in Nigeria under our watch.
Our education advisers have also informed us that the purported doctorate degree awarded by the Tansian University, Umunya, Anambra State cannot be awarded by any institution which does not have a school of post-graduate studies.
Again while it is too early in the day for us to request all relevant authorities to revoke the phoney honorary degree it is not too early for all authorities connected to the university and tertiary education in Nigeria to investigate the circumstances leading to this alleged miscarriage of honour
We appeal to the voter n Anambra Central Senatorial zone to avoid, sending anyone, but a worthy ambassador to Abuja, preferably a woman to make-up for the unfair, nullification of a woman’s election, under the circumstances that are on merit not acceptable to the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Once again, we remind Anambra Central of the need to be represented in the ruling caucus of the Senate at this point, and to take advantage of same in firmly placing their constituency, state and zone in the political equation of the nation.
