The chairman of the United Progressive Party [UPP], Chief Dr. Chekwas Okorie, the Ojeozi Ndigbo, has stated that the forthcoming Anambra State Gubernatorial Election will be a direct encounter between his party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance [APGA].
Chief Okorie disclosed this in statement he personally made available to Elombah.com on Thursday.
Speaking, the UPP strongman, confidently spelt doom for the incumbent governor, Chief Willie Obiano.
He said: “Truth is that the November 18 Gubernatorial Election in Anambra State will be a direct encounter between two political parties of the same DNA.”
By saying “DNA”, he was, no doubt, referring to the fact that both UPP and APGA were founded by the same person: him.
He, however, predicted impending defeat of APGA saying that it should not be a surprise to any who is closely monitoring the progressive and revolutionary agenda of UPP.
His reasons are premised on the notion that UPP is “deeply rooted in Self Determination, Restructuring, Referendum, Fiscal Federalism, Devolution of Power”, hence a bestseller for the voters.
“The impending defeat of APGA should be a surprise to any,” he stated, “who is closely monitoring the progressive and revolutionary agenda of UPP which deeply rooted in Self Determination, Restructuring, Referendum, Fiscal Federalism, Devolution of Power, etc.
“There is no other Political Party in Nigeria that parades such Social Contract.
“Like the great Zik would say, UPP will be magnanimous to APGA in victory while we expect the party to accept DEFEAT gallantly.
Speaking further, he ruled out any chances for the ruling All Progressives Congress [APC] or the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] in the Anambra electoral contest.
He noted that “After all it will be a family affair.
“Please note that APC & PDP are not in the race in Anambra State for all intents and purposes, he concluded.
Barring any last minute change of mind, the party will be fielding Chief Ifeanyichukwu Okonkwo, Onwa Nnobi, as its candidate in the forthcoming election.
