Following the recent utterances made by the Adamawa state Chief of staff, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Abba Jimeta over the local media of the state, to have earmarked 200
million solely for Pastors and Imams to pray for Bindow’s administration, it has degenerated to a topic of discourse with a serious public debate.
A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress [APC] and a loyalist to COS, in Adamawa State, Alhaji Uba Danarewa has cautioned Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow over their deteriorating political relationship with his chief of staff, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Abba Jimeta.
The policy statement made by Abdulrahaman which generated a lot tension in the state and nation at large which has caused embarrassment to the government, where some concerned citizens are of the opinion that government should bar Jimeta from making any policy statement.
Danarewa called on the governor not to sack the embattled chief of staff (Jimeta) as doing so will amount to serious injustice considering the sacrifices he made towards the realization of Bindow’s ambition.
Danarewa ventilated his salvo via a popular Hausa political programme aired by Radio Gotel noting that some politicians who do not want the progress of the administration for their selfish ends were behind the strident move to get the chief of staff sacked from office.
The Governor who was embarrassed by the statement which portrays his government as steeped in deep corruption wielded the big stick by preventing Abdulrahman Abba who was hitherto seen as the most powerful figure in the administration from making policy statements on behalf of the government.
The development has caused anxiety within government circles as many see it as a prelude to sacking the Chief of Staff who harbors powerful enemies from the system.
Danarewa noted that sacking the chief of staff will also affect the fortunes of many loyal party men who played very significant roles in ushering Bindow into the government house adding that the chief of staff knew the contributions made by individual persons towards the victory of the party noting that bringing a new person will destabilized the arrangement.
He pleaded with the governor not to heed the call of such politicians who are in the habit of using ethnic or religious cards to achieve their selfish political motives as they will cause serious disaffection in the state
Our correspondent in Yola reported that long before now political pundits in the State have been faulting the dominance of the embattle chief of staff (Abba Jimeta) in all government activities including announcing policy statements which ideally are expected from the Executive Governor himself.
