*Party Chairman Oyegun urges party members to remain united
The All Progressives Congress [APC] National Executive Council [NEC] is currently in emergency meeting.
The meeting, which is being held with the APC National Chairman and governors present is holding at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Speaking at the meeting, the party Chairman, John Oyegun urged all party members to remain united and be at their best to ensure efficient service delivery.
He acknowledged that the party is going through a difficult patch at the moment, but he remained positive that the days of gloom will soon be over.
“These are tough times, these are difficult times, these are times that call for the best out of all of us; the Party, the Executive, the National Assembly and of our Executive Governors,’’ he said.
“There are so many issues before us today, so many challenges before us today and I’m glad that this process of intensive consultation has started between us.
“I have no doubt that at the end of the day this will lead to better service deliver, it will lead to an energized party, it will lead to a National Assembly which is truly one of the building blocks of our change mantra,” Oyegun said.
In response, the Progressives Governors’ Forum pledged to work closely with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to ensure smooth running of the party.
Speaking on behalf of the governors, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai said the Governors have agreed to hold a monthly meeting with the party leadership to foster harmonious working relationship between the State Governors and the party leadership.
The Kaduna State Governor also expressed their continued loyalty to the APC led Federal Government, which according to him has made the nation proud.
El-Rufai also urged Nigerians to continue to offer prayers on behalf of President Buhari, whose ill-health he said is age-related.
