APC, Sure Bet For Projects Completion In South East — Buhari
From Christian Chime, Onitsha
Security was tight within Onitsha and all the suburb areas, apparently in response to initial threats by the multiple pro-Biafra organizations who had been very vocal and strong within the commercial city.
Buhari stated that with the commissioning of the Zik’s mausoleum shows Anambra was his home and remained one of his strongholds.
According to him, “I have nothing to say than to remind you of the situation we met this country and the promises we made to you. “So the best we can do for our country is to return the APC to power.“The biggest gift we can give to our country is security and sufficiency and economic prosperity”.
He thumbed his chest saying the APC administration had so far addressed the security situation in the country, regional development and equal ministerial appointments.
He noted also that “The larger population of the country are youths between the ages of 35 and below, Nigeria has lots of work to do, to get you employment and sufficiency.
“We have stopped spending our foreign reserve to import rice; there is sufficiency in rice and we now produce it locally, including the Anambra rice.
The President pointed out that the mandate given to him willingly by Nigerians in 2015 required their full support, especially for peace and economic development of the country and assured that his administration would use all the recovered looted funds for the well being of citizens.
If re-elected in the next month’s general elections, Buhari promised he would continue to make life easier for all Nigerians. That just he promised in 2014, his administration would continue the fight against corruption and insecurity in the country. In his words, the anti-corruption fight was difficult in the current democratic dispensation, “compared to the period I was a Military Head of State, when those who looted the economy were arrested and prosecuted”.
Curiously, he said he has just entered an agreement with the militants in the Niger Delta region on how to protect and ensure safety of the nation’s natural resources, especially the oil and it’s multi-million dollar facilities.
On the nagging issue of kidnappings, the president assured the government was tackling kidnapping for ransom incidents, herder/farmer clash, armed bandits and remnants of Boko haram.
He called on citizens of Anambra State to vote massively for APC in the 2019 general elections to enable the party complete all ongoing development projects across the country, particular in the south east region, that APC would not betray the mandate and trust of Nigerians.
The National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, said that the fundamental issues of the campaign were the pronouncements by the PDP that they are ready to change from their old ways of fraudulent administration which are all lies.
He said the people should resist that move by not voting for them. Mr. Oshiomhole declared that “with what I have seen here today in this
light of the Nation State, the APC has already won the general elections.
“I am therefore calling on you to ensure that you vote for all of the candidates of the APC from top to down during the general elections.”
That Onitsha was home to the APC family and himself and the residents would ensure the president was victorious in his election and called on the electorate in the state to reject the PDP that was responsible for the collapse of the bad roads experience now in the south east- south south states today.
The Minister of Transportation and the Director General of the APC Campaign Council, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, urged party supporters to vote APC all through to ensure a smooth running of the APC administration.
He said, whereas the PDP was in power for 16 years, the APC in power for three years had accomplished far more, including rail, roads and fiscal prudence.
The Minister of Labour and Employment and son of Anambra state, Dr. Chris Ngige disclosed that over 15 thousand youths are currently undergoing skill acquisition training in Anambra state under the Buhari government, said Nigeria, more than ever before, needs a stable and people-focussed government to move the agenda for our country forward. Hear him, “Four years ago, we promised Nigerians real change in what we do and how we do it. Nigerians sent a clear message in the last election and our platform offered a new ambitious plan for a secure, prosperous and corruption-free country. “We have worked hard to fulfil our promises and while the road may have been difficult, over the last three and half years, we have laid the foundations for a strong, stable and prosperous country for the majority of our people, he added.
The state coordinator of Buhari campaign, Senator Andy Ubah, said the large turnout of supporter in the rally shows that the APC and her candidate president Mohammadu Buhari will win in landslide.
The party Senatorial candidate for Anambra south senatorial district, Barrister Sylvester Okonkwo, in speech, noted that Buhari’s achievements was not only completing and commissioning of Zik’s mausoleum, but working on abandoned federal projects in the South-East and training and empowering of more youth in across the country.
Okonkwo, said the president had shown enough love to Igbo, predicting that he (Buhari) would rake in enough votes in the state and South-East in general during the 2019 election. He added that the people would surely reciprocate his good gestures.
He said the commissioning of the mausoleum was the promise Buhari made to Azikiwe’s son, Chukwuma before he died in 2014, adding: “It was there that Mr. President in discussion with Chuma Azikiwe, lamented the ugly state of Zik’s Mausoleum, his final resting place.
