At the St. Patrick’s Cathedral Awka, Anambra State was the APGA cognoscenti rendez-vous-ed.
They were here to visibly support the former National Chairman of the ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE (APGA) Nigeria, and the APGA Senatorial Candidate for the Anambra Central Senatorial District – Chief Sir Victor Umeh – Ohamadike Igbo, on his investiture as a Papal Knight by the Catholic Bishop of the Awka Diocese – Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor.
This Papal title was intended to honor the Roman Catholic laity who are actively involved in the life of the church, particularly as it is manifested in the exercise of their professional duties and mastership of the different arts.
The APGA hierarchy was also here to garner spiritual blessing in their united push for the electoral battles ahead – The Anambra Senatorial and Governorship seats beckoned.
The APGA had worked hard and were diligently awaiting their protracted due. From the outpouring at the venue, they got it.
Leading the delegation was the Chairman – APGA Board of Trustees and Governor of Anambra State – Chief Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano, and his dear wife – Chief Mrs. Ebele Obiano.
Also present was the National Chairman of the ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE (APGA) NIGERIA – Chief Dr. Ozo Victor Oye, and his Anambra State Counterpart – Chief Norbert Obi.
Chief Emeka Ojukwu was very visible in the congregation among many other party henchmen who thronged the venue.
The APGA echelon used this occasion to send a strong statement of Unity in preparation for the forthcoming Anambra Governorship Elections.
There are simply no fractions in the ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE, NIGERIA. And the party has no time for any.
This united presentation is a positive development in the growth and maturity of the APGA Nigeria ranks, which had always found itself mired in turmoil before any State Governorship elections, and always struggled to make amends before the final push. Not this time.
The incumbent Governor had made sure to have a strong local executive and a representative National echelon without rancor.
Unlike before, the APGA party presence was now very visible in the Anambra State grassroots, where it mattered. Matter, finally met mind. That was not the usual.
Political analysts are of the opinion that the Governor could have done a little bit more to strengthen the party outreach outside Anambra State, and further into the National limelight.
Currently, APGA issues are the fodder of Nigerian national political and economic discourse. No doubt about it.
That view pundits say must be on the Governor’s template after an impressive first term which saw a local emphasis on the development of Anambra State infrastructure and personnel.
APGA adherents concur on the need to spread the party’s Welfarist message on Domicile Security for all Nigerians, Free Speech, Respect for Human Rights within Nigeria, Free and fair elections, Free Trade across Nigeria, Stabilising the National Currency – Naira, against foreign currencies, Functional Education at all levels, withdrawal of Customs and Excise checkpoints within Nigeria, Implementation of the Free Trade agreements across the ECOWAS sub-region, Opening up of Seaports in Nigerian Coastal regions including Port Harcourt, Calabar, Oron, Warri, proper Census enumeration, restricting Military incursion in the daily lives of Nigerians.
The Governor’s dossier is a study in accomplishments. Domicile security is second to none in Anambra State.
The foundation for all civil activity. The sanctity of Human life while carrying out daily business is sacrosanct in Anambra State.
This background enables all trade to flourish in a State with a multi-talented dispensation. The Onitsha-Nnewi-Awka axis has never fared better.
To ensure that citizens enjoy the fruits of their hard labor, Governor Obiano further made it his administrations’ cornerstone to pay the Anambra State workers on the 24th of every month creating a responsible and focused administrative base.
Agricultural investment is at an all-time high with enough local food production and consumption, and the remains for Export.
Anambrarians may not go hungry. The Governor had also found ways to continue the construction and rehabilitation of Anambra roads and highways.
‘Willie is working’ is a common signal and refrain in all corners of Anambra State.
Unlike other states, the Ministry of Works in Anambra does work, and their efforts are clearly visible. The Anambra Airport project is inter pares.
A project aligned with the developing and burgeoning Oil industry in the state, assuring its viability in the transport of equipment and personnel to the required sites.
No white elephant here. The APGA yields practical dividends.
For the APGA, it was time to showcase their handiwork again, and propagate their chief architects in the practical venture of Governance.
All opposition were put on notice at the papal investiture. Leading this charge was Chief Sir Victor Umeh – The Papal knight.
As he received the papal sword and held it aloft in full attention stance, The former National Chairman had exactly one battle cry in mind – “Onward Christian Soldiers!”
The APGA echelon is leaving no stone unturned in this one. They all stand together for greater electoral accomplishments.
