APGA Councillors Drag Obiano To Enugu Industrial Court
Hearing begins on October 21st By Eneh Victor Chigozie
The Councillors, Supervisory Councillors, Secretaries and Deputy LG Chairmen in Anambra state who were elected on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance [APGA] from 2014-2017 have dragged Governor Willie Obiano and the state government to the National Industrial Court, Enugu, over their unpaid salary, entitlement and benefits.
The former councillors, supervisory councillors, secretaries and deputy LG chairmen converged at Awka on Saturday, August 7 where they addressed the press on how the APGA govt has been wicked to them by refusing to pay them their benefits.
The body accused the administration of gov Obiano of paying the severance packages of other political officers like commissioners, Special Assistants etc who also served within the period they served (2014-2017) but refused to pay them.
Addressing the press, Hon Bestly Okoye who read the communique said they have procured the services of Barr Femi Falana of Falana & Falana Chambers to lead their team of lawyers at the Industrial Court Enugu against the state govt and 20 local govt councils in Anambra state where they served.
He stated that all efforts were made collectively and individually to dialogue with the administration of gov Obiano and get the state govt to get their entitlements were to no avail.
They, therefore, called on Divine Grace, as they fight for their right.
Below is their communique:
