The leading governorship aspirant in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Nze Akachukwu Sullivan Nwankpo has commended the governors of the Southeast geopolitical zone for the initiative of setting up the anti crime outfit.
In a statement made available to newsmen by Nwankpo’s Director Media/Publicity Dr. Harris Chuma-Odili, said the governors’ decision to launch the regional security network codenamed “EBUBEAGU” was a welcome development, to address the worsening insecurity in the region.
He said, “We must commend the governors of the six states of the Southeast for coming up with this initiative. We believe that “Ebubeagu” will address the issues of kidnapping, terrorists attacks, banditry, armed robberies and help flush out criminal elements that had held the region hostage.”
The idea of Ebubeagu Security Network was conceived during a security summit at Owerri organised by the Southeast Governors in April 11, 2021 over the rising insecurity in the region.
The governors in attendance were, Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu; Anambra, Willie Obiano; Enugu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; Ebonyi, Dave Umahi and the host governor, Hope Uzodimma.
Also in attendance was the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Prof George Obiozor as well as top security chiefs in the zone.
Nwankpo commended the security initiative to ensure that the contemporary security situation in the geopolitical zone was brought under control.
