Army retakes Rann from ISWAP eight hours after attack
Security and local sources have revealed the Army has recaptured Rann, the headquarters of Kala Balge Local Government of Borno State from ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists.
Rann came under attack by ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists on Tuesday, who reportedly attacked and over-ran the military formation in the area, forcing civilians to flee for safety in the bushes.
But eight hours after the attack, a combined operation of air and land army launched another attack to reclaim the town from the terrorists.
A security source, who does not want to be mentioned, informed The Nation that the terrorists were chased out of the town after heavy air support for the Airforce forces.
“A fierce air support from the air force forced the terrorists to sneak out of Rann and our men are currently in control of the town,” the security source disclosed.
A resident of Rann also informed: “The terrorists did not sleep in the town, they were chased away by our gallant troops”.
The source also confirmed that four people, including a soldier and Civilian JTF, died during the attack.
