Bashir El-Rufai, one of the controversial sons of Kaduna state governor Nasir El-rufai, has released his pre-wedding photos of his wife-to-be to Nigerian and the world.
“My Nwakaego and I,” Bashir captioned the photos.
His fiancée, Halima Nwakaego Kazaure also shared photos of them together and wrote: “From total strangers in the dms, 3 years later. Seems like just yesterday. The only person that can tolerate my excesses and perfectionism.
“Although you drive me all the way up the wall because you are the complete opposite of who I am and I am such a control freak.”
The fact that Bashir’s fiancée has an Igbo name triggered reactions from Nigerians. Some lambasted him for marrying an Igbo woman despite his “stance” towards Igbo tribe in Nigeria.
Many Nigerians are of the opinion that Bashir El-Rufai intentionally choose the middle name of his wife to be, to show that his clan is a detribalised one.
Some even assumed that Halima’s mother could be an Igbo woman or she was born in Igboland for her to have Nwakaego as one of her names.
