Biden revokes travel ban on Nigeria, other countries
The president of the United States, Mr. Joe Biden has revoked the travel restrictions and immigration from countries including Nigeria, Eritrea, Yemen, Sudan and others imposed by former President Donald Trump.
President Biden took the action in his first day of office while issuing some executive orders undoing some of former President Trump’s policies.
In all, Biden signed seventeen executive orders and presidential actions on Wednesday upon assuming duty in the White House.
Explaining the reason behind his action behind the executive orders, he said: “There’s no time to waste,” adding: “These are just all starting points.”
It could be recalled that Trump introduced policies described as cruel Muslim ban that targeted Africans.
President Biden described the policy as discriminatory and an affront to the country’s values.
The new policies are aimed at to provide pathways to US citizenship for undocumented people, address migration issues.
It is also designed to reunite families whose children were separated from parents at the border between the United States and Mexico.
