Following frequent attacks on Madagali Local Government Area, Alhaji Yusuf Muhammed, the Council chairman, threatens to leave Nigeria to Cameroon Republic.
Muhammed made the threat known public during presentation of relief materials donated by NEMA to community affected by recent Boko Haram sect attacks in Gulak town the headquarters of the council on Thursday.
The chairman who expressed shock over recent frequent attacks and destruction on villages in the area , said that distribution of food to the affected communities was not their top priority.
” Our top priority in Madagali local Government Area is we need security not food .
” Government as matter of urgency should bring lasting solutions to stop excessive attacks and destruction on our people.
” If the deadly attacks continue , we have no other alternative rather to relocate to Cameroon Republic.” Muhammed said.
He complained that the people of the area were more hit by the insurgent in the state and yet were neglected as if they were not Nigerians.
The council Boss revealed that Boko Haram were just three kilometres away from Madagali area and was among the reason they find it easy to attack any community at their wish.
He urged for the government to deploy more soldiers in the area to protect the lives of innocent people of the area.
Also complaining, Senator Binta Garba ( APC) Adamawa Northern Senatorial District , confirmed what the council chairman said as ” true”
Garba said both Madagali and Michika local government areas were neglected in terms of Federal government relief materials intervention.
” Are we really part of Nigeria,? If yes; Government should proved to us and treat us as Nigerians. ” Garba said.
Responding, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Special Duties, Senator Abdul,Azeez Nyako, thanked the council chairman for heartily revealing what is affecting his people.
Nyako assured the people of the area that if he return to Abuja ,he will table the matter before the Red Chamber.
In his remarks, Alhaji Mustafa Maihaja, Director General of NEMA, who was represented by Air Commodore, Sunday Ohemu, said that the relief materials was part of government intervention meant to bring succor to the community.
It reports that three trucks full loaded of assorted food and non food items presented to the community.
