Boko Haram leader—Shekau reportedly killed by ISWAP fighters
Former Director of Public Relations, Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Sani Kukasheka Usman (rtd) has reported that the Boko Haram terrorists group leader, Abubakar Shekau, has been killed by Islamic State’s West Africa Province [ISWAP] militants.
Citing “unconfirmed reports”, Usman said that the Boko Haram leader was killed Wednesday afternoon in Sambisa forest by ISWAP fighters.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Usman tweeted:
Unconfirmed reports says that the Boko Haram terrorists group leader, ABUBAKAR SHEKAU, has been killed by ISWAP fighters today afternoon in Sambisa forest. @ottotgs @patagbambu @fredwave @DejiAdesogan @Suleimanuba1 @CandidH

An analyst with ElombahNews, however, questioned the veracity of Usman’s claim since according to him, “Shekau has been killed several times but in each occasion, he appears to resurrect”.
He said: “SK Usman should be a person of interest. How did he knows Shekau was the one killed? Was he there to confirm?
“If yes, it means, he has access to Shekau’s enclave and therefore a person of interest.
“If no, it means, we are not sure if the person killed is Shekau or this is a clear attempt to make us loose our guards while they plan to strike.
“I’m saying this because Shekau has been killed several times but in each occasion, he appears to resurrect.”
ElombahNews will publish more details as they unfold…
