BREAKING: Ajimobi’s Aides, VIPs Hospitalised For Food Poisoning
An undisclosed number of guests who attended the inauguration of excavators procured by the Oyo state government last Friday were said to be hospitalised after eating snacks and drinks served during the event.
Among the hospitalised are top government officials, royal fathers and running mate to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the just concluded general elections Samuel Eegunjobi.
Also hospitalised were several aides to the Oyo state governor Abiola Ajimobi as well as council chairmen and party supporters who witnessed the ceremony.
The food, according to a source was prepared and served by a Lagos based caterer, who has been a client of the state government since the inception of outgoing administration.
A source, who pleaded anonymity, informed newsmen in Ibadan on Monday that one of the victims, a close aide to the governor, was said to have been rushed to an undisclosed hospital 24hours after taken the chops.
Findings revealed on Monday that similar fate befall other dignitaries, who graced the occasion as all of them were at various hospitals, diagnosed of food poisoning.
One of the affected aides to the governor, who confided in newsmen, said she started experiencing stomach upset accompanied with dizziness and vomiting in the early hours of Saturday.
She said she was rushed to the hospital when the situation was getting out of hands.
She was later told her other colleagues too had been hospitalised for the same ailment when she put a call through to some of them to inform them of her health status.
“I saw hell shortly after eating. I visited the toilet more than 15 times and vomited about six times between Friday evening and Saturday morning.
‘’I was later admitted at a hospital where I was given some pints of drips. My survival is by the Special grace of God, “one of the governor’s aides.
A council chairman from the Oke- Ogun zone of the state also narrated his experience, saying he began to feel some discomfort in his stomach, he initially thought that it was constipation until he stated vomiting and defecating at intervals.
It was at that time he suspected that it might have been caused by food poisoning from the snacks.
When contacted, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Mr. Bolaji Tunji said that he didn’t know where the story of food poisoning emanated from.
“I don’t know where the story of food poisoning is coming from. There is no official report of food poisoning yet,” he said.
