*Orders fresh poll within 90 days
The Federal Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has nullified election in the entire 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State.
The court also ordered that fresh election be conducted in the state within 90 days.
The appeal was brought by the appeal filed by Umana Okon Umana: Issue for determination “Whether the lower Tribunal was not wrong in not cancelling the entire in the State”
In A lead judgment delivered by Justice Adefunke Okojie, The court held that the Akwa Ibom State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal erred when it voided election results from only 18 Local Government Areas in the state.
Consequently, a unanimous judgment, a five-man panel of Justices of the appellate court, voided the Certificate of Return that was issued to Governor Emmanuel Udom by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
