A police station and an office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Awka, the Anambra State capital, have been set ablaze by hoodlums.
The station, “B Division Police Awka” and INEC office came under serious attack by unknown gunmen on Sunday leaving trails of destruction.
A correspondent with ElombahNews, who reported the incident in sketches, wrote:
“Black Sunday in Awka!
“B Division police station Awka attacked. Unconfirmed number of police officers killed.
“INEC office in Awka presently on fire.
“A sad one.
“They shot for more than 1 hour at B-Division.
“Stopped at Ekwueme Square and shot like fire 10 minutes, then proceeded to INEC Office and put it on fire.
“3 Hilux fully packed with Unknown Gunmen.”
