BREAKING: Court Declines Sex-For-Mark Lecturer Bail
The Federal High Court sitting in Oshogbo, the Osun State capital, on Tuesday, declined the bail application of the former lecturer with Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Richard Akindele involved in sex-for-marks scandal.
ElombahNews had on November 19 reported Prof. Akindele, who was involved in sex-for-marks scandal, was remanded in prison.
Professor Akindele was charged before Justice Maureen Onyetenu and was accused of demanding sex to pass a student, Monica Osagie.
Akindele was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practises and other Related Offences Commission [ICPC] on four counts of corrupt practices, alteration of age and demanding sex to pass her student.
The ICPC prosecutor, Kehinde Ayantoye had opposed the bail application filed by the counsel to the defendant, Francis Omotoso.
Justice Onyetenu ruled that the allegations contained in the counter affidavit deposed to by a detective, Afolabi Oluwatoyin, were weighty.
She directed the prosecution to produce evidence to back his claim.
She thereafter ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody till 17 December, 2018.
