BREAKING: Court Orders Forfeiture Of Patience Jonathan’s $8.4m, N9.2b
The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the forfeiture of $8.4 million and N9.2 billion belonging to the former First Lady, Patience Jonathan to the Federal Government.
Ruling on Monday, Justice Mojisola Olatoregun granted an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] seeking that the money be permanently forfeited to the government.
Justice Olatoregun held that the money is reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime as Dame Jonathan could not prove that the money was earned legally.

The judge directed that the humongous funds should be forfeited to the Federal Government on the grounds that they were proceeds of illegal activities, as Jonathan and those involved could not legitimately account for the ownership of the funds.
