BREAKING: Dino Melaye Surrenders To Police Arrest
Senator Dino Melaye has, on Friday, finally surrendered to the Police after hiding in his Maitama home for about eight days.
According to report, he has been whisked away to meet with the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotum Idris at the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Senator Melaye had hidden in his residence to avoid arrest by police for alleged culpable homicide involving the death of a police officer, Sgt. Aliyu.
The police sergeant is said to be lying critically ill at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, where he was reportedly injured by thugs suspected to be Melaye’s hitmen last July.
The report said that some senators visited the lawmaker at his house and thereafter accompanied him to the Force Headquarters in a bid to resolve his issues.
ElombahNews had last week reported how dozens of policemen stormed Melaye’s residence in an attempt to arrest him for interrogation.
Earlier, Melaye had raised alarm of a sinister plot by IGP Idris to arrest and inject him to death.
The police, however, not only denied the claim, but stated categorically that there was no plan on ground to arrest the embattled lawmaker.
Two days later, police personnels invaded his home and embarked on plots to arrest him over a crime he has been dropped against him
Melaye, who refused to surrender for arrest, rather posted defiant messages on Twitter, saying he would not surrender to the Police and likened himself to the biblical prophet Elijah.
